I have T-Mobile home internet gateway on the truck. For a while, I couldn't sleep without background noise, so there were like two months where I topped 240GBs with no slowdown. It seems to be the go to for a whole lot of us at Prime, especially with the downtime in reefer.

I use - Visible unlimited, uncapped data on the Verizon network for $30/mo. If you just want to tether to your laptop that's all you need. If you want to set up wifi on your truck so multiple devices can be online at the same time you can do that with a MoFi router. To comply with Visible's ToS you need to tether you phone to the USB jack on the router instead of inserting your sim directly in the router, but it works great.
Pacific Pearl, do you do any video conferencing (like FaceTime) with that set up? How are network speeds on video conferencing? I just switched to T-Mobile paying $70 per month and would consider this. Thanks!!

What do you guy's use to get high speed internet while on the road? With me considering going OTR again, this would be a major thing I would like to figure out. I want to bring my laptop with me, do normal internet browsing, watching Youtube, streaming shows, all like at home... I see that some carrier have hotspots, however all the ones that I have seen have data caps on them. And it is so easy to hit those data caps quickly. Considering Starlink, but just does not seem practical. What other options are out there? Just seems like there should be SOMETHING out there that is a reliable decent speed, and unlimited for at least a reasonable price.
I use T-Mobile. I do all of my streaming, video calls, and anything internet-related from my phone.
There is a company called Nomad Internet that offers 5G unlimited hotspot data for use while traveling. It's $129/month + the cost of the hotspot device. For use on the road, this might be the best option out there.
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
I use Zoom for videoconferencing, works fine. Your coverage, network speeds and bandwidth will vary by your location but I've never had a problem with it PNW to Chicago on I-84/I-80. Even works in most of Wyoming and Nebraska where TMO doesn't.
I had a line with TMO for more than a decade. TMO is GREAT if you want your name, address, social security number, mother's maiden name, drivers license number, date of birth and your last colonoscopy viewed by as many people as possible but you don't have the time to travel the country and write these things on restroom walls yourself.
T-Mobile suffers 8th data breach in less than 5 years
Their other unadvertised service is CENSORSHIP. Let's say you text a friend a link to a website. Now, if TMO agrees with your politics or the website isn't political it will go through. If you don't share their views your text will disappear! Your friend will never see it but it will appear to have been sent on your device.

Holy balls! Thanks!

What she said the tmobile home internet gateway is by far the best solution I have used, it works off of cell towers so if you stop in the middle of nowhere you may not experience the best connection, also for whatever reason California south of Barstow is spotty. But on average I get 150-250 MBPS in the northeast I regularly get over 500 MBPS. Hotspots will not support more then casual usage. I tried hotspots from verizon, at&t, tmobile, quest, ladybug. None of them even touch the Home internet gateway from tmobile, unlimited 5g internet for $60 a month

Depending on how tech savvy you are, there are a few apps that tether and use your existing unlimited data you have on the phone. I have Verizon which has undisputed best coverage but like most carriers will throttle your Hotspot data after you reach a cap. All of them have a cap, no mater that you are paying for unlimited data. There's no reason you should have to purchase an additional service since you're already paying for unlimited data.
Mine cost 7 per year. I can simultaneously stream, download and game on it in most areas. You need to download and install a client app on your PC or laptop with it, it does usb tether or wifi and or Bluetooth. I save my regular Hotspot data for my smart TV as I haven't figured our how to sideload the client app on it. If you're ambitious though. You could turn on packet sharing on the phone, use your laptop as a regular Hotspot off the broadband tether as a router. Additionally some services like ubisoftware won't download updates over it, easily fixed with a VPN (I run Nord anyway).
It hides tether usage from carrier, I've used it for many years, and it's secure and easy to use. Works best with a tier one phone such as Samsung galaxy s21 and above, most current high end iPhone etc. Simply because they get higher priority data rates.

That home internet gateway is not available in the area of my billing address with T-Mobile, so that stinks.
