Hello Charles, and welcome! Not sure if you hit submit before you were done writing your question but your question is extremely vague. Can you please elaborate on what your question is and how we can help you?

How long should I stop so I can get the permit

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

This sounds like one of the "how long should I stop smoking weed" conversations. I can't tell for sure. Hopefully he can clarify things for us.

See what 15 years of smoking pot does to the memory.

As I get my career underway and earn some credibility in the community here, I plan to write an article to send to Brett or at least a master thread of "Why Marijuana and Trucking Don't Mix". It can be a quick link for moderators or regular contributors to simply paste a link they do the basic links for starting put a career to save the annoyingly never-ending deluge of "how can I beat the system as an ongoing pothead" which takes up an exorbitant amount of time and is becoming a waste of everyone's time. I would LOVE to give back here as what I have obtained so far on TT is invaluable and I am humbled by everyone's candid wisdom and empathy.

One may scoff at that seeing I used MJ for a couple years and quit in October PERMANENTLY. I honestly think I will be an exception to the rule as a lot of people come in here just wanting the fast track without a pre-designed exit strategy from MJ. Without an exit strategy you WILL use again.. Mine was a permanent 7 day core workout for my back, prayer, meditation, and the immense motivation of a career that will stop us from losing our homestead.

With that said I still think MJ has medicinal benefits for a much smaller percentage of the population that actually claims to use it for medicinal reasons. The most shocking revelation to me (to support Bruce's comments on memory loss), after detoxing the last 120 days I've been very alarmed at how much of my senses, short term memory, wit, and motivation has returned. It's quite alarming and I could never dream of operating a 40 ton missile under the prior circumstances. Even though alcohol consumption is permitted during off duty time as long as it's out of your system when on duty, I got rid of that 100% as well (did it before for 17 years and will do it again). For myself, I don't want anything that can mess with my awareness as I get out there this spring. The thought of killing someone out there, causing millions of dollars of damages to my employer, losing the last career that can support our American Dream in rural america, and possibly not coming home was too much to lose.

I'll get off the soap box now..everyone be well.

If they won't use the search function to see the previous hundred other times the question has been asked and answered why do you think they'll take the time to read your article?

It sends the wrong message to answer these types of questions. If they're serious about becoming a CDL driver the answer should be at least a year. Coaching them about the differences between UA and hair testing, telling them which companies use which method or the minimum time to go cold turkey to pass a drug screen just encourages bottom feeder people who want the paycheck, but don't want to make changes to their lifestyle to be safe professional drivers.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
