First of all, the politicians shouldn't be forcing everyone to use electric vehicles when the current renewable energy sources don't provide enough electricity and aren't reliable. They're also against fission reactors, which would be the only reliable way to provide massive amounts of power. Their goals should instead be promoting technology that further offsets, but doesn't eliminate, fossil fuels.

All electric semi trucks that match diesel trucks are out of the realm of possibility for at least the next couple decades. They should instead focus on hybrid technologies and reefer trailers. Reefer trailers could have solar panels on the roof, utilize excess power from a truck's alternator and have power cells equally distributed on the undercarriage. All the old, nasty and loud reefers could be phased out. Also, all the obnoxiously loud lawn mowers strapped on the back of trucks (diesel generators) could be replaced by electric inverters. There will be less pollution and way less noise pollution in truck stops.

SCWZ,

I see where you're going with the electric angle of phasing in the technology in areas where it's more likely to succeed immediately.

I did something similar at the house - all exterior lighting is solar. I haven't gone entirely solar because when I crunch the numbers on going solar, the system will not pay for itself before I need to replace it. In addition, the cost of going solar exceeds my current monthly electric expenses.

At the end of everything, we are shifting where and what energy source is used; we are not doing away with so-called fossil fuels.

Also, I hear you about the reefers diesel generators. I swear, refer trailers hunt me in the truck stops. Every night, I find parking between two trucks without reefer trailers. And every night, someone pulls out, and a reefer trailer inevitably creeps in next to me.rofl-1.gif

I'll start off with the fact that fossil fuels are not being made anymore. When they run out, we are literally out of gas. A hundred years ago, the Kern fields (just north of Lebec) were the number 3 petroleum producer in the US. Now they are drying up. What next to replace them? Oil companies are always looking for new petroleum sources, and soon they will be in the "coins dropped into the sofa" mode.

You suggest:

Their goals should instead be promoting technology that further offsets, but doesn't eliminate, fossil fuels

That's what under-trailer skirts, automatic (computerized) shifting, idle limiting. speed governing and such things most drivers hate are for. Trust me, diesel design engineers work full time to make truck motors to be the most efficient as possible.

Yes, electric tractors are still far in the future. (Fun fact: electric cars were produced & sold in the 1900's.) Modern production began in 2006 (range: 60 miles on a charge), 17 years ago. In the trucking industry, electric yard dogs are workable, and you can say they save fuel for us big boys. Read an article here.

Good thing you are thinking about this. And I agree, reefers are noisy neighbors. Bad news, there is so much energy in diesel fuel compared to solar panels, I don't think a roof-top of solar can really silently run a reefer.

I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again.

My truck is electric. It has batteries.

Solar panels on trailers? Great idea until you come to one of those bridges that have only about one inch of clearance. How thin can they make those panels? Lol

Too bad they can’t make a combination windshield/solar panel. Then at least I would feel better about driving into the sun every day, sometimes twice a day.

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

First of all, the politicians

You could’ve stopped right there. If the politicians cared about solving problems or were any good at it, wouldn’t those career politicians, that have “served” for decades, have solved more of them?

Have you seen or heard of how many "Electric" vehicles are bursting into flames,"PARKED"? New Ford trucks and others, those E Bikes now, and how many Tesla's (being operated as well).....They've got a LONG way to go to perfect anything electric. Aside from the low drive miles between charges pfffft.

And what exactly are they using to power all those charging pumps??? Sure ain't solar power hahaha, another big scam for "most" home owners.

Do not try to bend the spoon, for that would be foolish. The trick is to realize there is no spoon.

EVs and the global push for them to eliminate the internal combustion engine is the same as the push was for masks, for gun control, for just about all of the nanny state regulations.

The objects are irrelevant, be it food, social constructs. The climate, behaviors. They are simply a narrative to get the population to do do what a government tells its subjects to do, no matter how illogical and insane those edicts are.

Like the masks, the Vax, the EV is simply a token of submission. Debating its merits or detractors as a replacement for ice powered industry is futile and precisely the intended purpose. We're kept busy arguing with each other over widgets and fairytales while elite globalists push their agenda of totalitarian rule down through ever increasing edicts that erode freedom.

Fossil fuel is an oxymoron. Heres an informative Link on it. No, we're not burning dead dinosaurs, and no, we're not going to run out of it anytime soon. The extractable hard crude under our own soil via fracing is virtually untapped.

Nothing beats the throaty rumble of a well tuned deisel engine. Resistance is mandatory.

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.
