I’m graduating from a CDL school next week and I was looking for a decent company that only does DOT drug testing. If anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Anthony, why is the follicle testing an issue? Are you using a prohibited substance?

Because of the Valium you knowingly used? This was talked about 4-5 months ago.

Anthony, probably a good idea to get a private test done on your own dime first just to be safe. If you know that you are clean then company testing will not be a problem.

I used to do construction in the Newburg/Walden/Montgomery/ Wallkill area. Where did you live?

No. I’m 90 days out from taking my Valium to help me sleep. I know the tests are only supposed to go back 90 days but I’ve heard of people failing at 4 months. I don’t want to ruin my career before it starts. I don’t drink or do drugs.

I live in El Paso now. I’m from Newburgh, N.Y.

When I got a hair test, I asked the test administrator how far back the test "checks". She looked me in the eye and said 90 days.

I read elsewhere that after 90 days the tell-tale material in the hair has deteriorated too far to make good evidence. 90 days = three months, so that four month thing might be real. At any rate, six months clean is a good reason to wait.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Anthony, I did work for a construction company from Newburgh called Storm King, Inc. Did you ever hear of it when you lived there?
