I'm writing an article on over-the-road drivers. Driver health appears to be highly on the radar. But I'd like to get truck drivers' perspectives on the issue. Is it uppermost in your minds? Do you take advantage of company/truck stop health and wellness programs?

I did a little research and found a pretty good article here:

Yeah, you're right Erik. I'm pretty sure keeping a cooler with fresh vegetables and fruit is the way to go.

Hello Irene. In all seriousness I'll say this.....look at the average truck driver. Does health and fitness appear to be an important topic to them? Certainly not. The health care providers and large companies would surely love for health and fitness to become important to drivers. And of course you have some drivers that care deeply about it and do manage to eat healthy and stay in shape.

But overall truckers care as much about health and fitness as it would appear....hardly at all. I guess you could say "the proof is in the pudding"....and the cheeseburger, and the bacon.......

There is no way truckers can be healthy with sitting and driving 10 hours a day and breathing in diesel fumes.

Does anyone have any healthy food suggestions that I can eat on the road? I'm having a hard time finding options.
