Just now I've been waiting (4 hours now) for a dispatch. (My empty call was yesterday, skip the details)

65% of driver fatalities are caused by traffic accidents

So if only 65% of driver fatalities are from traffic accidents, what's killing the other 35% of the drivers out there? Donuts? Lasers? Spontaneous combustion? Aliens? That's what scares me. Over 1/3 of the drivers that were killed weren't killed in accidents?

So my takeaway is that about 1/3 of all known deaths during driving are the result of unknown forces but are not the result of accidents. Could potentially be heart attacks, aliens, or STD's.

I went to the store today and now you guys have me watching the skies for aliens as part of my defensive driving technique.

I wouldn't put too much effort in spotting those aliens Brett, they are very slick and are really good at sneaking up behind you.

And since they only allow people with highly questionable public reputations see them... I hope you never see one coming. good-luck-2.gifsmile.gif

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

EPU:

Electric Auxiliary Power Units

Electric APUs have started gaining acceptance. These electric APUs use battery packs instead of the diesel engine on traditional APUs as a source of power. The APU's battery pack is charged when the truck is in motion. When the truck is idle, the stored energy in the battery pack is then used to power an air conditioner, heater, and other devices

You are just now defending against aliens? I see aliens all the time... Well, they look and act like aliens... Okay, they are other truckers. Time to put on my tin foil hat and go to sleep.
