Check tires while fueling with Love’s TirePass

(Video)

Ensuring proper tire inflation is important as well as time-consuming. Love’s Travel Stops has found a way to kill two birds with one stone by offering TirePass, a tire-inflation service offered while fueling up.

Once drivers pull into one of the 10 locations currently offering TirePass, they can enter the “TirePass Inflation & Fuel Express Lane.” A callbox is then used to alert an attendant that service is needed. While the trucker begins fueling up, a tire technician will hook all tractor and trailer tires up to the automatic inflator.

In addition to inflating tires, the TirePass service will record the tread depth using a digital tire tread depth gauge. Once completed, drivers can go to the fuel desk to receive a full report on the condition of their tires.

Love’s claims the TirePass service reduces downtime, increases fuel efficiency, extends tire life, and improves safety.

TirePass is currently available at 10 locations, but Love’s plans to have the service available at all Love’s Truck Tire Care centers, according to Love’s Spokesperson Kealey Dorian.

TirePass FAQs

What is the fuel and tire inflation service lane?

TirePass is a fuel and tire inflation lane where a trained Love’s technician checks and inflates your tires for you while you fuel.

The technician will:

Check tire pressure

Automatically inflate low tires

Measure tread depth

Visually check tire and wheel assemblies

Note: Automatic inflation occurs in tires measuring 75-99% of the desired pressure you request of the Love’s technician. Tires under 75% of your desired pressure are considered run flat by the system and will not be inflated.

***

Do I receive a report of the results?

Yes. Pick up your detailed tire condition report at the diesel desk once the service is complete.

***

What are the benefits?

Regular use of the Fuel and Tire Inflation Lane service helps reduce downtime and breakdowns, increases fuel efficiency, promotes safety and prolongs tire life. In the long run, you save money.

***

How much does it cost?

For a limited time, your first TirePass visit is free. On future visits, you pay a low introductory price of $10 (trailer included for free).

***

How does it work?

Pull into the fuel lane marked TirePass, then press the call box button. A technician will come out and perform the TirePass service while you fuel. Once the service is finished a complete TirePass report will be ready for you to pick up at the diesel desk.

***

How fast is TirePass?

Our technician can check and inflate all of your tires in 10 minutes or less – about the time it takes for you to fuel. Customers are encouraged to register their vehicle on the first visit and utilize flow-through valve caps to speed up future visits.

***

Do I have to get the TirePass service to fuel in the featured lane?

Yes, this fuel lane is reserved exclusively for drivers who want to use the TirePass service.

***

What are the hours of operation?

TirePass is open: 7 a.m. – 11 p.m.; 7 days a week.

***

What if I have tire pressure monitoring systems or on-board tire inflations systems?

You should still use TirePass. The service can help you confirm the accuracy and reliability of your other systems. You will also receive tread depth measurement and a visual check of your tire and wheel assembly, which tire pressure monitoring systems and on-board inflation cannot do.

Company drivers won't pay it and lease/owner-ops won't either (even if they could afford it). Not for $10. Make it free if you get more than 50 or 100 gallons or whatever, just like for showers. But who is gonna fork over $10 to have someone check the air in their tires?

It's possible you might convince companies get accounts for their entire fleet but you can be sure they'll negotiate it for free when getting fuel. That's just not a service people are going to pay $10 for in my opinion.

Yeah, I could see this as a nice Value Added Perk that they could use in contract negotiations and the cost could be somewhat loaded into the cost of fuel for these contracts. I would agree that most will not be willing to pay that amount for the service, but there will be a fair amount of those who will, especially if it can be proven that the fuel savings will more than offset the cost of the service. As for the cost? I'm sure they have to set a retail value for the service that includes a fair profit... that profit margin is what they can play with when negotiating those bulk deals with the big carriers.

I like the concept, but as already said 10 bucks won't fly. Besides most Love's are small and now your reserving 1 fuel lane, that isn't gonna fly very far. They don't even say anything to people parking where it is prohibited, you think they will regulate a fuel lane. I check mine with a gauge both pressure and depth once they need it, guess I better not tell the IRS its worth 10 bucks a shot, lol

Dicskon, TN? Ha!

Just what we need, another reason for drivers to sit in a fueling lane longer at Loves. I avoid that place like the plague. Horrible wait times already. Also, why would I pay someone to do what I am paid to do?

Ya know, yesterday I was going to say, "The only way that service would make sense for Love's is if they had tire centers" which they never had in the past. Now I see they do. So that's why they're doing it - so they can sell tires. Makes sense.

So the $10 fee would be waved for fleets if they decided to use this service. You can be sure of that. In fact, they probably already know that almost nobody would be willing to pay $10 to get their tires checked so they wave the fee to make it sound more appealing. Makes you think, "Well if they'll do it for free, why not?" and they've drawn you in.

In the end their goal is to sell tires. That's all.

And the lack of fuel islands and space in the parking lots is going to be another deterrent to this for sure.
