Had a delivery at a Lowes retail store this afternoon. Dropped full trailer, pulled empty from dock, dropped it. Hooked to full trailer , backed it into space where i pulled empty from, dropped full trailer. Hooked back up to empty, got paperwork, sent MT Call. Drove to Truck Stop for the night. I wonder if I get paid EXTRA for that!? Maybe Ill get a part time job as a YARD DOG!

Sounds like a pretty good day, all things considered!

At least you got tons of backing practice in there...

I love drop and hooks and wish I got more of them, but that's the life of a reefer driver! I can usually sneak in a nap while getting unloaded though.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

Drop And Hook:

Drop and hook means the driver will drop one trailer and hook to another one.

In order to speed up the pickup and delivery process a driver may be instructed to drop their empty trailer and hook to one that is already loaded, or drop their loaded trailer and hook to one that is already empty. That way the driver will not have to wait for a trailer to be loaded or unloaded.

Wow ! I was just joking about extra pay. I'll have to ask my DM about that. Thanks! smile.gif

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Welcome to Walmart! You just described a typical final store stop for me. Too funny. And yes check with your DM moving a trailer should be an extra $10, at least it is for me.
