Sorry to have left everyone waiting. I started with XPO. I believe they are a good starter company. I also think I should have been given another trainer. After three weeks and over seven thousand miles with a trainer I was told he wouldn't recommend I be upgraded. So basically fired. I was assigned a driver adviser. Never got a call from him or ever got to talk to him when I called. I didn't have any problems with my trainer. I just always felt rushed, sort of like driving miss Daisy. I wish to thank everyone for your concern.

Seriously, that's just one trainer with one company. There is a long list of companies that I'm sure would love to give you a shot. Don't let this deter you. Keep moving forward. Start filling out applications and making phone calls. You'll be back in a truck in no time!

That does sound strange to not get another trainer. I knew of a guy who got two trainers because the first one dropped him off for having a bad attitude. What was the reason for not letting you test?

Hey bucket I am not sure if you are going to get this but don't give up! I have applied to a ton of places that turned me down and now I am starting with Swift and although I have not been with a trainer yet, the lesson I would take from this is that sometimes we fall but get back up again, this rodeo is not over yet! YOU CAN DO THIS!!smile.gifgood-luck-2.gifgood-luck.gif

I WILL be watching for an update!

I would apply around, put in your application, then call, be upfront with them, give them specifics, and tell them what you learned from the experience and how you plan to move forward. Life is full of learning experiences, you learn from them and move forward.

My friend, your career is NOT over. Do you still have your CDL and a current physical? If you have a clean record with no accidents, Any trucking company would be a FOOL not to hire you! Don't let this get you down! Get yourself back into that truck and keep on rollin' down the highway. Where are you from and maybe I can recommend some good companies? Also, what are you looking for in a trucking company?

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

bucket .

if you went to my cdl school you could have called the career advisor there and told her whats up , she would probably go to her file cabinet which is full of truck companies for you to call and check into .. Don't give up on the fight - if you got your cdl then just start applying at every company that you are interested in .. MAKE THEM FIGHT for you . did you know there is a 900.000 shortage of truck drivers right now? Go get that money man !

My truck driving career just ended.
