What are your thoughts on a driver based fuel card rewards program? What makes you choose the truck stops you go to the most frequently?

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

As a Company Driver, I do not choose my fuel stops. In my opinion Loves has the best rewards program. Any time you buy fuel, the Major Truck Stops will give you a free shower. If you are looking for Big Truck Stops with lots of Parking Spots, then TA and Petro seem to be the best bet. They both usually have a sit down restaurant attached. Dennys, Iron Skillet, Country Pride. Most Truck Stops or "Travel Centers" have fast food places attached.

The company sends us to Flying J/Pilot, so that's the only card I have. I don't pay any attention to the balances, but I've never not had a shower credit when I needed it, and every once in a while when I buy something they ask if I want to use my points. This morning I was buying coffee and they said "this is your free coffee", but I don't know exactly why.

Kurt, Flying J/Pilot gives you your tenth cup of coffee free. That is part of their rewards program provisions.

My company sends me to Loves, Pilot, TA, and even circle K/AMBest so i have showers and points on them all. I've bought jackets, headsets, and my GOS with my points. They add up quickly

Oh, OK, thanks. I thought it must be something like that. Once they said "free" I didn't want to ask too many questions. :)

do you have to sign up for the rewards cards or does your company hand them out to you when you start? Sounds like a dumb question but I'm going to be starting with a new company (and career) in a month and just wondering how would a person obtain the cards

You just stop in at a truck stop and tell a ckerk you want to get a rewards card. They will hook you up with one.

Oh, Old School, you make everything sound so easy. But my friend you are missing a critical requirement to get a fuel rewards card.

The minimum age to get one is 18 years old, and yes they do check! So if you're like me you'll need to go into the store and ask the clerk for a fuel rewards card, she will check your ID to verify you are at least 18 and if you are then she will issue you one.

Welcome to my life friend. Welcome...
