Interesting how things work out. The past few months I havent been enjoying OTR at all. I would get loads going to all the places i like and i had no desire inside to do it. After this last hometime I wasnt wanting to go back out and I got a load from the Walmart DC in Los lunas.

Been running surge for a while and decided that i am ready for some normalcy in my life again. So i finally decided to hang up my OTR keys and either do this walmart account or do shuttle with the Albuquerque terminal. All i have left now is to talk to my dm to let him know what i am planning and to find a place to live in Albuquerque.

I waited a good long while before acting and i am glad i did. It is easy to make emotional decisions on a bad day, but on a great day i was still wanting change.

I am looking forward to this next part of my career and hope to find a niche that works real well with future plans of mine.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Congratulations, Glad Hand on your decision. The best part of what you wrote is:

I waited a good long while before acting and i am glad i did. It is easy to make emotional decisions on a bad day, but on a great day i was still wanting change.

Quick decisions of a permanent nature can be dangerous. But your long consideration, and the "even on a great day" standard means you will be truly making the right decision. There is a slim chance in the indefinite future I might be passing through ABQ. I'll let you know.

Well i been on the fleet for a week now. Took a pay cut from .42 a mile to .355 a mile. Also i dont get paid for the first stop and it is $10 a stop now instead of $15.

I knew this was going to be the case being dedicated pay is a bit lower. Considering that you will never get less than 2500 miles and will see 3000+ a week if you can run the clocks right and stay in the driver seat.

Still don't have a place to live so i am staying in my truck until i do. It is perfect because they are giving me an extra day off tomorrow so i can get a car and a few other days next week to get the paperwork done for an apartment. Keeps me making money as i take care of my living situation. Doesnt get better than that.
