Also before I go any further, Disclaimer: I only use the GPS as a tool to help me with trip planning and to navigate roads off of the main highways to our customers. For the main highways I use my atlas.

That's how I do it, too. 😊

It should have a reset button on the back. Small pin or paper clip can push it to rest. Also if it’s only 10 months old call and use your warranty to replace or repair it. I’ve had their 5” version for a little over 3 years without a problem. They’re a great tool to have in your arsenal.

I can agree with this I have the 740 and it is less than 3 months old. It is constantly doing that, sometimes to the point where I have to mess with it for 20 minutes or more to get it to work. Usually it ends up responding after a while. Luckily I have my atlas and my Navigo on the qualcomm as well so I never really have to fly blind. If you happen to find a fix for this please do post and let us know.

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

Personally I stand by my 730 although it's outdated now. I believe the 740 is the latest version. I've used mine for roughly a year and a half. There's only been 4 or 5 freeze issues when I hit too many buttons at once without letting it catch up, and it's always been reliable while driving.

You guys need to download Rand McNally program on your computer and plug in the GPS into the computer. Use the program to scan for errors and/or damaged files (it'll fix them) and most importantly scan for updates. An outdated GPS tends to crash and freeze often, even moreso with damaged/corrupt files.

Yeah I've done that a few times, most recently about a month or so ago

I have a 740 and pretty much love it. I did do an update and had some issues recently. The lack of YouTube videos and product support is disheartening.

However, if you do a factory reset, it usually solves the problems. DON'T WORRY, YOU WILL NOT LOSE YOUR SAVED ADDRESSES.

Doesn't work if the unit won't power on. Bought a refurbished 730 off Amazon. It died after a few months. No warranty. Bought a Garmin 580. I like the TM better. I think the two together make one great GPS.
