I just got my driver number for Swift. So now I wait for the mentor. Because I use the CPAP , I have to wait on a CPAP mentor. I don't know why but that is policy.

It has been a long haul to get to this point. But now I might be going out tomorrow????? I have to be ready to go. So anyway, I'll know tomorrow they say.

Swift doesnt have ApUs or inverters so maybe you need someone with the inverter. perhaps not everyone has one for the cpap?

thats my guess

APU:

Auxiliary Power Unit

On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.

Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.

17 and newer all have inverters now. 1000 watt. Don't really have use for them now that I am home more but it was a definite plus when I was.

Well according to the office in Fontana I have to have a mentor who also uses a CPAP machine. So if they use one they will have an inverter. Hope it will be strong enough for two CPAPS. I will start a daily diary once I go over the road (time willing.) When I was down in Fontana, they had about 7 trucks waiting for change out due to miles. So maybe the new ones will be my mentors truck. We'll just have to see.

Kind of a weird time to be going out but I guess it will be OK. Mom and family not happy about that part (she's 97.) Might be the last one for her.

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
