I saw a Prime truck with a walking turtle and its little turtle tracks painted on it. In fact, I've seen many Prime trucks with unique designs on them. Do drivers get to customize their trucks? Or is it just luck of the draw?

Another way Prime lures drivers into the leasing program is by allowing them to purchase vinyl graphics for their trucks. That's what you are seeing. Full "look at me!" mode.

I've never asked if us company drivers can do that. Personally it just doesn't appeal to me.

Well, I mentioned turtles...I wasn't calling on YOU specifically but, I guess it makes sense you responded. Lol. Thanks for the info.

I'm curious now who the turtle imposter is...

The Black and Gold are Million Safe Mile drivers... the diamonds are female drivers. Prime calls us women "Highway Diamonds" and they have an annual gala discussing womens issues and a huge party with keynote speakers...like a semi formal event.

That is cool they do all that, OD only puts your name on the door for the million milers and your truck cant be driven by anyone else. We have a few women drivers in the terminals I go to as far as I know there is no gala unfortunately.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Veterans get stickers too...and at one point they had a contest for "most patriotic design"

I was watching a Facebook live video with the recruiting department shortly before coming out to SLC. It was lead by a recruiter, Andrea if I remember correctly, and someone did ask that question - unfortunately the answer is no. Custom decals are reserved only for lease operators.

Thats cause they cost hundreds to thousands of dollars. makes me.laugh a newbie will trick out the truck with Directv, huge TV, game system and a $2000 decal then roll the truck the first month. then will go all over social media about how awful prime is.

ill never forget the one who oicked up from Krafy, drove across the street to the yard to scale and rolled the truck. First load...and got 1/2 mile...thousands of dollars in debt for PSD , $2000 for the deductible plus all the fees etc with the lease.

PSD:

Prime Student Driver

Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.

The following is from Prime's website:

Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.

Obtain CDL Permit / 4 Days

  • Enter program, study and test for Missouri CDL permit.
  • Start driving/training at Prime Training Center in Springfield, Missouri.
  • Work toward 40,000 training dispatched miles (minimum) with food allowance while without CDL (Food allowance is paid back with future earnings).

On-the-Road Instruction / 10,000 Miles

  • Train with experienced certified CDL instructor for 3-4 weeks in a real world environment.
  • Get 75 hours of behind-the-wheel time with one-on-one student/instructor ratio.
