Trying to keep the sun out of my sweat box. It’s only 78 out. I can’t idle over 4 minutes until it hits 80. There is a soft breeze, but the concrete jungle is heatin’ up.

I feel for you, didn't realize just how handy an APU was until I got one, and just in time for warmer weather!!!

APU:

Auxiliary Power Unit

On tractor trailers, and APU is a small diesel engine that powers a heat and air conditioning unit while charging the truck's main batteries at the same time. This allows the driver to remain comfortable in the cab and have access to electric power without running the main truck engine.

Having an APU helps save money in fuel costs and saves wear and tear on the main engine, though they tend to be expensive to install and maintain. Therefore only a very small percentage of the trucks on the road today come equipped with an APU.

Sitting on the concrete with a view of my Highlander and the geese at the retention pond.

Set my NAT for noon. Have to leave the yard with my load at 1755 pm. (Leaving at 1755 means they don’t have to pay me the extra 5 cents per mile for leaving after 1800). And a backhaul at 0400. I’m a day driver, so I have no idea how sleepy I’m going to get. Tried to nap but failed. My off day is Tuesday, but I don’t get the $200 incentive since I’ll be off by noon.

Life goes on.

Be careful around those Texas rest areas during the upcoming warm months, especially at night. Rattlesnakes will come out and lay on the asphalt or concrete to stay warm.

Seen this bad boy at the Kwik Star in Story City IA I-35 MM 124 this morning pulling somewhere around a 45 foot trailer. At that rate just go buy an actual rig!
