I was driving in i64 west in VA, while a few minutes ago a damn deer ran out and hit my truck.... Thankfully it was small and didnt do much damage.

So it ran out and hit that very front corner or you just barely couldn't avoid hitting it? I've totally seen deer run into the side of vehicles! Once driving a small truck I had to slam the gas pedal to the floor to avoid having a deer run into the side, just barely got past! Hope it comes up as not preventable!

Dang jamie! I've had a few close calls with them but never made contact. I do seem to hit a lot of raccoons though. Glad it wasnt worse. Amber says

The best course of action is to hit the deer or any animal in the roadway. If you swerve you risk rolling the truck or running another vehicle off the road that's on the side of you. If you brake often times it causes more damage so just continue at current speed and hope it gets out of the way, unfortunately. It doesnt affect your driving record but its still best to inform your company even if there appears to be no damage. Don't veer for deer.

Sorry about you hitting one of our deer, Jamie. Only 28 more and you’ll catch up with me!

You act as if you're out there looking for them. This isn't road race 2000 ya know. Hitting "Bambie"

Only three with a big truck so far. All the others were my cars and pickups, but that’s going back to the 1970s.

Here’s a few of my houseguests. I kind of have a thing for deer...

I definitely did not plan on hitting the deer but there wasn't anything that could be done, I'm just glad it was minimum damage! I was about to take the broking bumper part off myself, so I didn't have to waste time for road service and they said I was good to keep rolling, so I did after taking like 20 pictures and some when the sun came up!

Glad you’re okay, and minimal damage.

Well this just happened to me on the 8th. I wish the deer that decided to run out on the highway in my case just hit the side of my truck. Glad your ok!
