Good luck Marc. My wife has talked me into trying the Keto diet. I'm skeptical but will try it for a month.

Marc,

That looks absolutely DELICIOUS to me.... hubby OTOH has lost ALMOST 40 lbs in 2019 with the High protein/Low carb regime. Milk, eggs, meat, etc... just no bread/chips/pasta. Cottage cheese is a favorite snack. (AND dried squid; his brother's ex wife is Korean.... good stuff, actually!)

My weight problem(s) originate(s) with the fact of being Italian, pasta is a 'staple' food, in my mind...LoL.

Brett ... HOW do you DO IT? No pasta?!? :(

PackRat ; I remember reading in a prior thread or two about your 'heart healthy' diet... you got this, man!

ps: Can you tell I struggle with weight?!? Don't even drink beer, just recently quit drinking pop (okay, soda...) and struggling with THAT alone, tbh!

Best to all y'all~ Anne ;)

Thank God I'm not the only person on Earth who realizes this. We're built to eat meat. Lots of meat.

Enjoy your grass, Marc. Gross.

I had a big plate of salty, fatty beef for dinner and ham & eggs for breakfast. I have a 29-inch waist.

Has anyone ever noticed that all the animals that eat plants have long necks, eyes on the side of their head, and chew in a rotary motion? Deer, cows, horses, etc. Now compare that to us. We stand tall on two legs with prehensile hands, short necks, eyes in the front of our head, chew vertically with incisor teeth, and the digestive system of a carnivore. Does that sound like an animal built to eat grass? No. We're built like hunters. We're designed to eat meat. Lots of meat.

When the hunting is bad we can choke down a few plants to tide us over. For me, hunting is never bad because there's an awesome grocery store 20 minutes from my house.

I rarely waste my time in vegetarian conversations. It's astounding to me that people are convinced we're supposed to be eating all kinds of vegetables. I can't make an ounce of sense out of it. I don't see any evidence of that at all.

I am right with you man, I eat chicken personally and lots of it. Not because I dont like beed or for moral reasons but because it's cheap, once I get my CDl going I plan. To have a few more steaks. I cooked a 10 pound prune rib over christmas and ate it all in a week, meat fat gristle et al mmmmmmmmmmmmm

I usually ha e eggs and bacon each morning.

What gets me is that most sheep line up at the McDonalds, Carl's Junior and Bk near my house , toss Chik fila in there ( though I do like me a spicy chicken sammich from time to time) and wonder why they are afflicted with disease.

Humans arent meant to eat the chemically produced, sugar , corn and soy infused processed crap commonly called food in the grocery store aisle. A good example Velveeta "cheese". Its shelf stable while all the other natural cheeses are in the refrigerated section. We had alot of that when I was younger and we did a bit of eatin' on uncle Sam's dime.

Now I am on food stamps right now while in school, but I load up my cart with meat, eggs, bacon, etc. I do also toss veggies and fruits in there to round out my diet and stay away from candy and desserts as much as possible. In fact thos holiday I had less sugar than I can remember and home baked the apple pies to eliminate the Sara Lee processed junk.

It is possible to eat right on a limited budget, I dont fall for the I'm poor so all i can do is Doritos and cookies all day crap line of thinking.

Chicken all the way baby!

Because they pile on the rice , potatoes, processed Boca Burgers condiments etc. A plate full of potatoes will fill you for dinner , but it's all carbs and glucose. Same for the rice and beans.

Nah, us hewmahns are meant to eat ribs, fowl, eggs, fat etc, our ancestors used plants and herbs for seasonings and flavor or to round out the diet for critical nutrients.

I did a study of the dark ages once. Alot of the diseases and maladies that folks had were due to 3 things. Over population if the known world at that time , lack of proper sanitation after the fall of the Roman empire's aqueduct and sewer systems (thus a loss of sanitation knowledge in general) and MALNUTRITION.

I suspect the vegans of today suffer from the same.

Meat, it's good for you!

Seriously, good luck Marc. Good on you for making a conscious change in your diet for your health. I wish you would come back to the meat side, though.
