The day after the Mayan Calander ended, I went out to breakfast with my mom. Some guy was trying to peddle survival gear to pay Bill's, dumby took on a grip of debt to "survive" a supposed life changing event.

I am all for being prepared, I have somethings put aside for natural disaster, the PNW sits on a dormant volcano and we are long over due for a fault line adjustment, other than the basic reasonable preps, I choose to trust God and live my life, fear is no way to live.

The Mayans said we would.die in 2012. My mother has been telling me for years that Trump is going to make us all die poor lol.

BTW.... the anthrax tests they gave us were only 50% accurate! WHAT??? lol

While going down US93 in NV, I got cell service in Ely...glad I lost it shortly after leaving the Love's. My devout Christian friend about the Coronavirus and to be aware because it's at pandemic stage. I told her that I haven't heard much about it, except in China. Oh, doncha know that the news is covering it up?? She has read her sources and because we are in the End Times, this is a virus mentioned in Revelations and it will kill 1/4of the world's population!

I agree, God is in control and I don't have time to worry. As it was, the reefer kept popping a code every 30-45 mins til I got it in the shop in Barstow.

To those who love to quote revelations as their reasoning for world ending calamities and the end times, I come back with words directly from the saviors mouth - I quote em Matthew 24 specifically verses 36-44 - simply put , we will not know when Jesus will return . nor be fully prepared for it.

Case in point, when Obama was in the White House, many folks thought it was the end of days. They stockpiled weapons, ammo and survival food. All they did was make ammo more spendy and parts for the rifles harder to get. Some of em arent even alive any more , who gets what they store up on earth. As I said, I am okay with reasonable preparation, fear mongering, resource hoarding and living in a dug out bunker deep in the woods away from humanity because something "might" take us out...honey that is just straight up 100 percent fear, and frankly I wouldnt want to be around folks like that. We have plenty of em out in Eastern OR, too weird for me toss some eastern Washingtonians and some Idahoians in there too, that whole prepping to take on the government thing is weird to me.

What actually scares me is that some of these folks get so wrapped up into the fear mongering and believing this stuff that they start to act and live out their fantasies. That is when good people can get hurt, all because "Bunker Brian" believed the lie, tripped out and decided the government WAS indeed coming for him or that Corona is a world ending plauge.

Focus on real life and real world, like your reefer code , good luck hun! For me, it was the radiator in my car blowing a hole and forcing a costly repair (parts , my time and labor) , not to mention getting work and trying to move to WA to get restarted on my CDL....

Be safe

I just got a call from my 81 yr old mom.

Mom: OMG.. the virus is getting so bad, what are you going to do? You go to the shipping ports and are always around people!

Me: I drive an 80,000 pound, 75ft long, 13.5 ft high truck everyday through fog, ice, snow, thunderstorms, sand storms, hail, wind, mountains, cities, construction zones, and detours---all while dodging crazy drivers all day and on a time limit. And i am supposed to worry about a virus on the other side of the planet?

Mom: Oh great! Now im worried about snow, fog, winds, ice, and mountains. Thanks!

The prepper thing cracks me up. Its fascinating to watch (on the tv show), but I don't understand why they don't prepare for the most likely scenario: that one day you will get old and be unable to work. Its amazing how much $$ they spend on bunkers n ammo n such when they should at least put some away for something 10,000 times more likely to happen! ... that being said, this virus is a nasty one. Hug yer family and trust your Lord.

I believe in being Prepared though I don't consider myself a prepper. I have guns and ammo , a generator, solar panels And ways to make water safe to drink. Also have about 6 months worth of food. That's the thing they're talking about now is that if people do have to stay-at-home for a while make sure you have food.... For at least 2 weeks. You'd be surprised how many people don't have that much on hand. Trust me I would never make it on a TV show.... They wouldn't consider me crazy enough... I'm prepared more for a natural disaster...not the end of times. I'm not going to wait on the government and its inefficiency

Tread lightly.

There are some preppers on this site, including me.

No disrespect meant. I'm just too cheap to spend like they do on the show. Much of the off-grid living makes sense to me, as well as the ppl who have a communal plan (I figgure if things get real bad, ppl will have to work together in small groups). I cant wrap my head around the guy who spent 1/2 a million, though! Hopefully, he plans for retirement, too.
