I hope this virus doesn't shut you guys down too long. Things might get lean for a while. Be prepared!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who realizes this. When I first heard mention of it I looked it up on WebMD or someplace like that It said, "Mild upper respiratory virus, treat with over the counter medication and rest." In other words, it's basically a bad cold.

Here are some stats:

  • Each year in the United States, more than 250,000 people have to seek care in a hospital due to pneumonia. Unfortunately, about 50,000 people die from the disease each year in the United States. That's about 4,000 people per month.
  • The CDC estimates that as many as 56,000 people die from the flu or flu-like illness each year. That's a little over 4,000 people per month.
  • In the past month, there have been 2,817 deaths worldwide from coronavirus. That's only 25% the number of people who have died from the flu and pneumonia in the U.S. alone in the same period of time.

The news is shameful nowadays. Their job is to get as many people to watch as possible, and they've resorted to fearmongering and generating outrage. Basically, it's on par with the Jerry Springer Show.

It is more serious than the flu, because of the long incubation period it has, which makes it more likely to spread. But, I was more coming from the angle of large areas of the U.S. being quarantined. Folks would learn real quick just how important our transportation industry is. I've been prepping my store a bit and ordering extra meds for my asthma patients, asked my wife to buy maybe a week extra of food, but that's about all I can do. My warehouse is all out of those masks (not that they'll do any good). I just wish I could go ahead and catch this thing and get it over with, so I can help others. Take care, y'all.

...and the Mayan Calendar that has already ended. Many took as a sign indicating the end of the world.

The media...no longer reports the news, they create it.

The media is doing what they do best with this. Inciting fear in the general public. Remember the Ebola scare?

Everyone is going to die. Truckers will be last though. Somebody has to haul the bodies to the mass graves
