Perhaps for the last year my fm has been guiding me through the process. I get a load run it and get a preplan for next load pretty much matching my hours. However in the last month much of the time I have two or three preplans on me. Now, it’s up to me to plan the loads so I will make the next load and then the next load. Maybe this is a new learning phase for me, but dang it stresses me.

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Donna, I hear you.... new stress, the price of success! some irony there. What comes shining through, however, is success! dancing-banana.gif

Based on what you wrote, I'm trying to put myself in your shoes. When you get backed up on pre-plans - a good thing, being a steady supply of miles - is managing hours of service into other planning logistics the hard part?

Actually it not the planning it’s the unplanned. The shipper that should take 4 hours takes 6. It’s all the things that could go wrong, that usually does go wrong, and suddenly having to replan. I’ve done well so far, only one load had to be re-powered due to an excess long unload. It just makes the hurry up and wait game more painful. LOL

Shipper:

The customer who is shipping the freight. This is where the driver will pick up a load and then deliver it to the receiver or consignee.

That means you've become the one they can count on! Great job Donna. Having preplans sounds much nicer than sitting around that's for sure. Keep up the good job!

Your FM is showing confidence in you. Don’t stress. Just take them 1 at a time. If a customer screws the timing up there is nothing you can do about that. Just document everything and keep your FM informed.

Sounds like you have done very well!!

Ahhh, Donna, I figured I was on the right newbie track discerning that your "problem" was emergent gold standard; now it's great seeing the feedback for ya from respected voices on here! Truly glad for you to be reaping rewards..... this is SO heartening for someone in my position, looking at the big picture.

Well, sorry, now I have to add to the pressure, but it's only rational behavior on my part..... since you've obviously got the success recipe..... please post and share more often! Lol! smile.gif
