It was indeed a boring day. 6-8 we were taking the bread trays off pallets, restacking as needed so each stack was all the same color then running red or black into the trailer with the same color to go back to the manufacturer of our private label bread. Took break, came back and separated totes by color to go to the other DCs that they ship out cigarettes, supplements and any other items that are small or more likely to be stolen as they can put seals on each individual tote including medical stuff. Did that until 930 then we went and swept between pallets in the pick slots in the warehouse. Took lunch at 11 and I happened to walk past 1 of the dispatchers. He asked me if i wanted to take a truck out instead. heck yeah! Our fulfillment centers that they ship online orders out of are closing down. They've decided it's much more cost efficient to do it out of the stores like they originally did as well as allowing them to get the exact item they want as some products are only sold at a couple stores but not at the fulfillment centers. They had me bobtail to a store 7 miles away to grab the empty trailer they have, take it 20 miles to the fulfillment center to load up on frozen product to drop back at the store. It took about 2 hours to do all that but atleast I wasn't pushing a broom around anymore. The other guys weren't happy that I got out of it due to seniority over them and they left at noon right after lunch. Got 8.5 hours in.

Bobtail:

"Bobtailing" means you are driving a tractor without a trailer attached.

Dispatcher:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

OWI:

Operating While Intoxicated

#SHOTSFIRED!

It was nice being able to sleep in until 430am but it'll cost me on the paycheck. Hopefully I can work extra tomorrow and help make up for it. I would've made what I typically make if I used vacation time instead of working it but I'd rather save my time to actually do something. Most stuff is closed and people have lost their minds so we can't even take the kids out to the playground.
