It will pause your 14 hr clock , I did it this week. I did a 2 and 8. The kicker is if you only do the 8 and not 10 after the 2 you will not get your full 14 back. I was in a rush and almost screwed my self.

So far I absolutely love this particular change. It's about time they do SOMETHING worthwhile with the changes they make.

My contact at the outfit was talking about this the other day in my weekly "What's the Buzz" call. My question for him was - how does that affect the 70 hour clock? Off duty time doesn't count toward the 70 hours, but on-duty not driving does. Is this new variant considered "on-duty-but-not-really-just-kind-of-doing-what-I-used-to-do-on-paper-logs"? It seems like it would suck away the total available hours for the week, rather than taking the 1/2 hour in an OD or SB status...

I totally get what your saying Mr Curmudgeon about it wasting your 70 but I do see how its beneficial. You're able to satisfy your break now while fueling or a flatbed driver tarping their load needing to show a realistic amount of time tarping. As a driver paid hourly all my time is paid regardless what my logs say. Most stores take 45 minutes to an hour to unload. I've only worked 3 days since the changes took effect but I love it. The only time my clock showed less than 8 hours until break was my drive to the stops and then back home. I didn't end up actually taking what was formally the legal definition of your required break until my 12th or 13th hour.

It's still confusing to our household (Home daily, off weekends, kinda like Rob T.)

Wondering what Don H. has to say? Same company as 'my guy.'

My guy's QC tells him he's satisfied the 30 ... as he was getting ready to park, and take 'just that.' I mean, it IS great and all... just trying to figure out what's heads and tails (tales) here, LoL~!!

Following, for sure. Still unclear ... he's in the mindset he'd rather take an 'extra' one, than not be compliant with the one that 'appears' on the QC, ya know?!?

Thanks, still learning!

I have not noted much difference with the new rule and it's effect on my runs. I do like the added flexibility with managing the HOS. Depending on the Consignee (Campbell's!...cough..cough), IP Buffalo, Refresco, I take a 30 minute break while there. Then, I have a full 8 hours drive time.

Here's what happened, Don. Last week, he had a run to Pepperidge/Willard and then Heinz/Fremont ... the latter of which kept him for FOUR hours! Well, when he got back to the Mt.V yard to get his 'next' assignment, he was going to go ahead and take his 30, but the QC said he already had. What say YOU?!?!? (or anyone?!?!?)

I loathe going to Heinz-Fremont! Those guys could care less about detaining us for hours. Thankfully, I have only been there three times.

I can guarantee you that if I am going to Heinz or anywhere else I know I will have a lengthy detention. I take a 30 minute lunch break while there.

I am not sure how the Hubby's QC would have him taking a break without him manually going to "Break." Odd.

Ann anytime he sits for 30 minutes (or more) on duty, sleeper, off duty or any combination or them it satisfies the break even if hes sitting in a door, something that used to be legally defined as ON DUTY. Today for instance I went on duty at 1230am. My "8 hours until break" clock didnt start until I started driving at 1250. Drove a half hour to my first store with that clock ticking and spent 45 minutes unloading my first store. Came back out and my clock was reset to 8 hours. Drove 10 minutes to next store with clock ticking. Unloaded in 35 minutes and came back out to 8 hours until break. I ended up actually taking my paid break times at my 9th hour, and currently taking other half hour at my 12th hour.

Rob T. . . OH MY WOW ~!! TYSM!

Seriously, I was thinking about getting him on Aricept, or whatever that senile med Rx is.... LoL~!!

Thank you!

See, Don H ... you don't GO to Fremont enough, where they screw you into a break times 8 lolol... When this happened to Tom, he was literally there 4 hours plus..! Somebody tweaked the QC, maybe Kim M, haha! Last two times to Heinz, in and OUT on a dime...bet they didn't LIKE that 'detention' bill y'all put on 'em, LoL~!!!!

He says 'you' can have Napoleon, he'll take Fremont .. if they stay like this, LoL~!!

I sincerely thank you BOTH for the input. Sometimes the hubby thinks 'I'm' his walking Green Book. The letter / enclosure that came w/his pay stub a few weeks ago; he deferred from reading it, and had 'me' tell him what it said! (Guess I missed that part, haha!)

Mucho Gracias' y'all ~!!
