6 weeks in.

I got a text yesterday asking for me to meet with my supervisor to discuss new COVID protocols. I figured we were moving more towards normal or there was a new provision for when an employee gets sick.

When I spoke to my manager he told me that we were now required to wear 2 masks and safety glasses. I had to wear safety glasses over my prescription glasses. That's right. 2 masks and 2 pairs of glasses doing physical work in 80 degree (and getting warmer) weather.

I told him no, I wasn't going to be doing that. He said it's coming from the safety department and he said once I'm out on the street there's no way of knowing what I'm doing. Implying that the rule was on paper but they weren't going to enforce it. I told him that's not how I operate and I gave him my badge and phone. I'll take in my uniforms tomorrow morning.

It's their company and their rules. I will follow the rules of the company I work for or I won't work for that company. It's just that simple and I didn't want to have to be looking over my shoulder to see if management was in the field checking up on me.

So, it's back to the drawing board to see what's out there.

Banks, I'm truly sorry to hear that! I agree with walking away... I won't wear one mask much less two!! However, it does not surprise me.

I think it was a Pepsi place down in Hot Springs AR, but it could have been Coke, that refused to unload me and load me the next day if I didn't have a mask. Another driver gave me one of those blue ones. It didn't matter that I have a medical exemption. Next time I had an issue was with Nestle Pure Life water. That was in Denver and I just pulled my shirt up over my nose. He said he couldn't hear me. Too bad! What gets me is that these people are wearing masks and they are behind glass and yet we have to put on a mask. I will keep you in my prayers that you find job that you are happy with I don't have these kinds of issues.

It's insanity at this point. A year plus later and they're still moving the goal posts for no reason.

Thank you for the prayers Laura, they're much appreciated. I'm not worried. I have my savings, stimulus and tax return money sitting in the bank along with what I have invested in the market. The wife is also still working.

Why would you get bashed? You're the nicest person in here. You try helping people that sometimes are beyond helping. I'll look into fab, but I don't know if they operate in my area. Thank you.

Maybe that's why they're pushing the double mask agenda. People will go through them twice as fast and they can get unloaded. I don't wear a mask in my personal life, but I will for work. I've gotten kicked out of some places and I just leave. I'll take my business elsewhere. Now, I'll take my skills and experience elsewhere. Not a big deal.

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

A little silly to implement those rules now, while a lot of places are ditching or not enforcing masks.

you should be able to find something pretty quick every company seems to be hiring now.

OD is hiring for P/D and I'm on the fence because I don't want to drive a stick in the city. I know, I'm a diva

Banks, I respect you for standing up to them and their tyranny. Seriously, anyone who believes the mask and distancing thing at this point is as simple as a twig, has been asleep at the wheel for the past 15 months, and lacks any critical thinking skills.

Florida, Texas, South Dakota, Sweden, Taiwan, South Korea, etc......no mandates for masks or distancing, and no problems. Life goes on normally.

Wake up, people!

The more we refuse this tyranny, the faster it will go away. Companies will discover that it's nearly impossible to find enough good employees or customers if they enforce this type of nonsense.

Good for you, Banks! I support the move. I'm sorry you have to look for work now, but hopefully, that won't be a problem for you.

All the best!

Awwhhh!! Thank you!

You are most welcome, man. I know FAB 'operates' in your area, just not sure of any yards your way. We've had a few runs up your way from Ohio; sure is worth a shot. Really great company for being 'homeward!'

Wish you well, always.
