I been recently having a hard time with the company I am been there for bout 9 months as A local driver hauling Cottonseed everything was all good until recently my truck A/C went out and and I informed my boss and the maintenace man multiple times and they said they will get to it...They never got to it its been 3 weeks now and i still complain and they still havent got to it I stay in Memphis TN so the weather is now getting above 88 degrees all last week i brought up to my boss how this is DOT Violation and he says Im a work on it right now and it still havent been worked on saturday I txt my boss

"Goodmorning Brother is there a chance I can have a truck ready for monday or have the A/C adjusted lmk Boss"

He has a Iphone so I seen him read it and he hasnt responded so i Txt him back a ? and still he read that too but hasnt responded

This is a fairly new company only been around for bout 3 years and you know what they say bout mom and pop shops I starting to thinks its true I don't know what to do at this point I'm starting to feel like he and the company just dont care for me tbh if they hiring more drivers and there getting trucks but why cant i have a truck that works fully....IF its against DOT regulation do i have to drive it can I refuse and do he still have to pay me for there faulty equipment or do i just need to leave the company.....last month I was the #1 ranked Driver in my division and TBH Its like im still getting mistreated

Howdy, Jim D. again!

A few questions: Did you finish out your contract with PAM/Driver Solutions, or did you take THIS (possibly 1099) job, on the bug out ?!?

If you'd share the name of the company, many of us could help more. You, yourself .. could look them up on Saferweb. Google it; FMCSA.saferweb; it won't let me share the links.

What are you really looking for in a company, and why are you staying there? So many Q's, no answers until you share more. What do you even haul?!?

You COULD look up the FMCSA code for coercion, I think it's 309.6 ... they can not force you to drive sick and/or tired. NO AC in the weather you describe, would make me (and MANY) .. BOTH sick AND tired!

IMHO, I'd leave and go drive for a REAL company, that cares about their employees. Read current threads!! There are many!

You have 3 posts, you won't list your state, NOR whom you drive for; there's not much WE can do.. .until you help us (many vets on here!) help YOU!

There's nothing in DOT rules that says the A/C has to work for it to be roadworthy.

I've heard that's an OSHA issue, but good luck with that working at a small company.

How is it a DOT violation?

Some trucks still don't have it installed.

Try n check it yourself 1 very simple test ANYONE can do is, unplug the low pressure switch, put a paper clip or wire jump across connecters 2 pins IF the A/C now works its as simple as replacing the sensor, screws off n right on no loss of refrigerant. It has a schrader valve in it to keep it all in the system. Takes all of 2 minutes to swap sensors out

Jim, I agree with Anne. Look for another company to drive for. I recently switched to JS Helwig & Son out of Terrell, TX. They would never allow a situation to exist such as you describe. I couldn’t be happier than I am in this new job. If you need to talk about this issue, I can try to get you my number or you can get me yours. Any company represented on this website would be a great improvement to your current situation.

They technically don’t have to fix it. It is not a dot violation BUT I ain’t driving more than a day or 2 without AC. That’s just me

What type of truck are you driving? If there is still heat blowing while you have the ac on it may be that your blend door is stuck and there are some YouTube videos that will help you reset it. I know that can be a common occurrence with freightliner.

Yes, turn blower switch fully to the left turn the temp knob(center) fully right, dont bother the bunk heater knob. Then hold in the 2 knobs til lights flash, that resets it all, should work fine. Unless that pressure switch is faulty, or you didn't lose your freon charge

Had my 2019 FL go funky a couple times, and did the reset trick to fix it.

Steve Reno it was the same with my 21 Fl. Happened at night when I was going up and down some hills in Alabama. Kept having to switch between ac and defrost heat. They got stuck. I tried the reset and it worked.
