One thing I don’t think many newer drivers take into account is that while the companies they’re trying to get their start with might say they only look at the previous 3 years or whatever, they can pull an abstract and see everything dating back to the first day you started driving as an adult. If they see a pattern in violations, no matter how minor, they can determine that person as a potential risk.

I know Prime recruiters that questioned things from the 1980s just to see the person's reaction. They don't want hot headed, abusive people representing the company

I had an arrest for a drug charge when I started. Dismissed. But once I was in orientation w my first company we all had to go thru our background, job history etc. Dude kept asking me "when was last time you smoked a joint?" " Done coke lately?" I was a little shocked at first. But then realized what was up. Almost messed up when I told him the "shrooms" will prob kick in shortly so can we finish this up? He became silent and glared at me for prob 30 seconds. Then bust out laughing . Said ok bud we will talk in an hour. He actually harassed about 5 ppl behind me about "shrooms"! So yes they will try to get a rise out of you!

"Disclaimer" -I by no means condone drug use in the trucking business. You are driving up to 80,000 lbs. on highways w families etc driving with you! No no no and no again!!

When I went in, I was prepared to squeal like Chunk with the Fratellies! Funny, they didn't ask a dang thing! I was kind of disappointed!

I was subjected to relentless questioning about my use of Geritol, Preparation H and Doan’s pills.

PackRat is indeed funny, however his pragmatic advice and candid insight is unrivaled on this forum and trumps his occasional, well placed comedic flair. His intent is to guide, advise and help, and NOT intended to disrupt the charter of Trucking Truth.

I apologize for trying to be funny, during a serious discussion.

NaeNae you are not chronically hijacking threads with silly replies. No need to apologize… like most of us I believe you understand balance.

I apologize for trying to be funny, during a serious discussion.
