I have a load that I am picking up tonight in Dayton, OH going to Jacksonville, FL. Are there any concerns I need to be mindful of beyond the typical, as a result of Hurricane Ian? I guess things I am thinking about are parking, fuel, and road closures. I have checked out nflroads.com and jax511.com and didn't see any closures that look to affect my route, but I would like to receive feedback from members here also.

Also, you might want to talk to the safety dept. of your company. They can give you destination specific information. Have a safe trip, hombre.

Make sure you have food and water with you. Truck stops may not be offering their typical services. I would also try to avoid buying fuel in areas where there was flooding.

Jax, FL is far north of where Ian hit. You should be okay. What you'll likely deal with (if anything) is other drivers headed into/out of the area affected.

If you're taking I-75 south to I-10, and then east, the Georgia rest areas just north of Valdosta are pretty good sized and available. If you're taking I-95 south through Georgia, there are two Pilots at Exit 1. The one on the east side of 95 has tons of parking and more food options than the one on the other side. Georgia rest areas on 95 (especially about MM42) are generous on the parking.

Florida scales are excellent parking options. As long as they're not shut down for renovations, they usually have plenty of parking and 24/7 clean restrooms. PLUS, many drivers are afraid to park there.

I (and my company) operate heavily, in the South Georgia, North Florida (where Jax is) areas. I hope this is helpful! Drive safe!

I used to run loads to Walmart west of Jacksonville.

I always found it easier to stay around the FL/Ga line then head down the next morning.

There are a few options to pick from on I95, if that’s your route into Fl.

There’s a few truck stops around the bypass by they were usually pretty small with limited parking .

I was usually in early 5 or 6 am so my view in the traffic is limited .

If you have a bypass for scales and such it will come in useful for the agriculture stations as well. I remember having to stop a couple times, but usually got a bypass.

That's a much better site than the two I found. Thank you.

That's a smart idea. Thank you.

I always have at least two cases of water with a large bottle of filtered water to use for coffee and cooking. Plenty of food to last for at least a week. I wouldn't have thought about avoiding fueling in areas where it has flooded. Thanks for that pro tip. I will plan to fuel in Tifton, GA both down and back.

I am planning on going 75 and then US-82 to 95. I have a 7 am appointment, so it would work well to do as you have said by parking not too far away and driving in before early rush hour starts. There are 2 Pilots on both sides of 95 in St Mary's, GA. That looks like probably a good place to park before driving in for my delivery.

Ok, I just posted a comment mentioning stopping at one of the Pilots on 95 in GA. My real concern wasn't so much actual hurricane damage, but issues caused by flooding from the blow off heavy rain that often comes with hurricanes.
