Antibiotics have kicked in I think, last few days have been pain free. Root canal is tomorrow so hopefully that will take care of the problem.
Fingers crossed everything works out soon for you.

Thanks, hopefully they can get to the root of the problem tomorrow
Went well have to go back in a couple weeks to finish up.
I once heard if you have to get a root canal you might as well get the tooth pulled since that will be the end result eventually anyways. Any truth to that?
The only root canal I had failed and resulted in a repair where the drill went through the tooth into my jaw which was NOT anesthetized since "there is no nerve in the tooth anymore" and the dentist didn't realize the tooth had rotted. Nearly killed a dentist that day with my bare hands!!
Also, many naturopaths believe root canals may contribute to certain types of cancers. Next time I will opt for an extraction. No thanks to another root canal ever. Just my 2 cents.

I think that was a problem years ago, now they get in there really well and clean it out then fill it with some new stuff. Supposedly it will act like a normal tooth, but everyone is different and it may need to be pulled if it doesn't take.

That seems unbelievably painful, the place I went to did a complete 3d xray of the tooth so there would be no surprises.
Yep, I had a failed root canal too. I will never spend that much to save a tooth again, only to have to turn around two years later and have it pulled.
Knock on wood that mine remain in good condition, but family history doesn't look promising. Once they start failing, I'm looking at implanted posts for dentures. Not that I WANT to lose my teeth, but for financial planning for future needs requires accounting for that cost.

In my experience, yes, that is true. I’ve had two root canals and they both failed. And it didn’t take long, probably lasted for a couple of years. I would never get another root canal done.
