I instructed the artist to clean it off to avoid further problems, which he did, with the sleeve of his nice jacket.

I have no problem with that, but one of these days, you'll wake up in the hospital wondering why you had to make a big thing out of a small thing with the wrong person.

No matter how badass you are, there are plenty of people out there who can mop the floor with you without breaking a sweat, and they're just begging for an excuse to do it.

That's all we're saying. No one here thinks drivers should run around messing with each other's equipment, but none of us think it's worth fighting over, either.

Deescalate is the word of the day. PJ was a police officer, and I know we have many people here who are trained in various forms of martial arts, self-defense, firearms, etc. Those folks have a ton of experience on the streets, and they'll all tell you to choose your battles wisely. We're almost all Type A personalities here, so no one is saying roll over and let people walk all over you.

But...you said:

I already have enough to worry about in this crazy job

If you really felt that way, this conversation wouldn't have happened. You would have laughed at FJB, because....well...FJB!...am I right?

We don't want to see you sweatin' the small stuff, nor do we want to see anyone get hurt or drivers confronting each other over little things. Again, he was in the wrong, but like they say, "Life is 10% what happens and 90% how you react to it."

You could have made a friend and gotten your point across that he shouldn't be doing that kind of stuff for the same reason I just said to choose your battles wisely. Someone, and that could have been you this time, is gonna put him in the hospital over something really dumb, something he shouldn't be doing in the first place.

As drivers with a lot of experience, we care about fostering a strong community amongst drivers and we care about the safety and well-being of other drivers. So we're looking out for you and the community as a whole when we say to act wisely when you're out there. Think things through. Keep in mind what really matters. Try to foster a strong community amongst drivers, and don't put yourself in harm's way.

There is a category for "harmless fun," and you'd hate to see anyone wind up in a hospital over something like that.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Another outlook into this situation is based on the crazy principles that our society has fallen into. Say you do open up a can of Whop azz on him, he calls the police and you are charged with assault. He ends up with a settlement against you and you are in worse condition than when you started.

"Harmless fun" - no. It seems that many folks on here are willing to give the guy a pass because they agree with the dude's political stance. Writing FJB on someone's trailer is just childish.

Literally nobody gave the guy a pass. We all said it was wrong.

So where do you get that from?

No? Can you please explain to me the harm in it? I just don't see it. Again, it's not something he should do, but I see no harm.

So you're saying we would have advised him to assault the guy or call the police if he had written "F Trump"? I certainly would not have, and neither would anyone else. We're telling him not to get too worked up over it because we don't believe it's worth fighting over.

And to be clear, no one gave the guy a pass. I didn't see anyone say it was ok for him to do that. None of us condoned it. We just didn't get butt-hurt over it.

Writing FJB on someone's trailer is just childish.

Of course it is! But getting bent out of shape over it is even worse, don't you think? Or do you think it's a reasonable, mature, and emotionally intelligent response to either call the police or assault a person over scribbling three letters in the dirt?

Why are lefties so easily butt-hurt all the time? They are constantly offended by everything and have absolutely no sense of humor.

“Why are lefties so easily butt-hurt all the time? They are constantly offended by everything and have absolutely no sense of humor.”

I have to admit, I love these type of discussions here. Lefties, righties, fighties.

Now I’m not a man with strong political leanings, but most would probably consider me a leftie. But I’m not offended by FJB or FDT and I think I have a very robust sense of humor. lol. (See?!).

One factor we as drivers should think about is all the road and bridge construction and repair going on (that is irritating while it is being done), but benefits us in the long run. Isn’t much of it a result of the infrastructure bill that Biden pushed through? (Yes, I also know it’s being done with borrowed money).

I’m not sure scorchednuts was literally ready to punch the guy. I took it as more of a metaphorical statement.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Possibly...he said:

Don't touch my stuff. He was lucky to not end up with my fist in his mouth.

...metaphorically speaking, of course.....

How were they way different? Pretty sure we gave pretty much the same responses. Slightly different scenario.

Interesting that the replies were way different when I spoke up about keeping your hands off someone else's equipment.
