Hi guys, we are trying to create apps which facilitate you ability to take passengers with you. Usually the main obstacle to take passengers is insurance issue. Companies do not want to take responsibility for passengers on the board. We decided to create a startup where the passenger can register himself and be insured same way as uber pessenger. Then you can give a note to your company that you are joined to community that take all responsibility for your passengers. They can be your family/friend or ANY person who is a member of your community. For example, you have a trip from Dallas to New York, and you are not mind about someone who can talk with you and make sure you are not fell asleep during this trip. You can find passengers who are willing to go with you in our app. The idea is someone like Airbnb where people who can meet each other and share they experience. I would like to ask you about pros/cons, any concerns from you. Can this app be interested to you?

I have always thought it would be a worthwhile risk to have a complete unknown stranger in my truck. Maybe a serial killer, a scumbag on the terrorist watch list, or otherwise fugitive from justice. What could possibly go wrong? Definitely on my Bucket List.

Maybe a serial killer...

I wouldn't worry about it, what are the odds that two serial killers would be in the same truck?

OMG Rob, that is hilarious!!!

Regardless of the passenger status and self-insurance, my company would still require their own process to be followed with the same paperwork. So this idea has limited value as I see it. And having a passenger to keep the driver from falling asleep is not a realistic approach. There is a better way:

Olga, let's say you're going to drive across the country for a little sight-seeing or vacation... you going to let someone into your car for the trip just because they signed up on some app?!? And at night, you're o.k. with this person sleeping in the same room with you, only 2-3 feet away???? A complete stranger. Who you met on an app. Say it out loud, Olga. This might be the worst idea I've ever heard of. It's got NOTHING to do with insurance. It's about safety. And about the insurance... your app is going to provide the insurance for the rider(s) for free? Allz the rider(s) or driver has to do is sign up via the app, at no charge? Not bloody likely. I imagine a credit card and some personal information is going to be necessary to participate... all-in-all, sounds very dangerous, and a bit scammy...

I haven't killed anyone since I retired from the military.

What about sexual harrassment? "Olga" sounds like a womans name. So would you wqnt to sleep with a strange man on the truck?

Alcohol... drugs... weapons... come on. The driver would be at so much risk legally. Even if not endangered. No way. This is my job and moneymaker... not risking it. Professional drivers do not need help staying awake.. we just park and nap. And the nagging of "lets stop here... i have to pee.. what do you mean we have to be locked into thsi dock for 5 hours?" Uh nope

Kearsey, we haven’t heard anything about the dungeon for awhile. This might be a good way to restock.

This is a great example of a non trucking person trying to come up with a solution to a non existent problem.
