Ok, so I finally pulled the trigger to apply to Roehl Transportation's company sponsored CDL school and have been accepted and have an employment offer letter! I still need to get my CDL permit (so will be reviewing like crazy the High Road training materials) and to get my medical card before I can be scheduled a start date. I am excited and very nervous at the same time! I really wanted to go to the local technical school but was shot down for WIA funds because I have sales skills. I was told that sales was one of the jobs most prevalent on Monster.com and I should be able to find another one with no problem. I tried to explain it really is much more difficult than they think being over 50 but they weren't buying it and was told I could file a complaint if I was so inclined. What a bunch of hooey! Anyway, I decided to jump in with both feet after talking to the recruiter at Roehl. I told him my biggest fear is quitting my job and getting bounced because I wasn't learning fast enough. He reassured me by saying if I needed extra help and had a good attitude and was making progress I could get an extra day or so. I don't know that I will need extra time, but I do want to be safe and it seems Roehl as a company values safety for their drivers. Time will tell, but I wanted to share and let y'all know since I have received so much encouragement and information from everyone here!

Now, on to important things, the Steelers-Ravens game will being soon so I gotta go root on my guys!!! GO STEELERS!!!!!!smile.gif

Woo-HOO, Jolie!!!! I am SO excited for you! This is monumental. This is very exciting! Just get behind that wheel every single solitary chance you get. Be the first to volunteer this and that, be the first to try new stuff, always go hands-on whenever you get the opportunity. Make a few boo-boos cuz you will, just learn with as much enthusiasm as possible (without coming across as false), and embrace this. Be fearless as you already have been.

And go-go-GO!

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

What she said. To help keep a good attitude, keep telling yourself when you make a mistake that every single truck driver has made mistakes during their training and whatever it is, no one will remember it.

Good luck and congrats on the leap!

Congrats Jolie. In the other forum winetaster and I have detailed our experiences in Roehl's cdl school. Andy is there now, but in a different location they have started using. If you go to Marshfield I can tell you you will do fine . They will work with anyone showing the are trying their best. They have an extremly low bounce rate. The one killer is they have an absolute no alcohol rule. If you break that one its no questions asked your done. Pretty easy to follow. I went through at 53 yrs young. I was there last november, winetaster was more recent, and Andy just finished up at the Appleton location. Have fun with it.
