Great article G-Town, You made an interesting point in finding a place on the web with integrity. All a person needs to do is spend a little time reading and absorbing some of the excellent information here to know that you wont find a lot of, if any, BS from the regular contributors here. You may not hear what you want to hear or in this case read what you were hoping to read, but it will indeed be the Trucking Truth!

I just read this again. Good going G Town...i really think Jim nailed it too by commenting about the negativity in the news. no wonder everyone is depressed, on meds, and kids are shooting up schools. Toxicity is everywhere.

But G...did you have to show our age???? Ill translate for they youngsters... "encyclopedia" is a book we used to search for information before Google. "Ska" music?? hell even i dont know that one.

Nice article my friend.

Thank you! Ska is a more structured, melodic form of reggae. Jah Man!

I've been a little on the busy side lately. I just had time to sit down with this article tonight. Very well done G-Town! I can tell a lot of thought went into it.

The work we do here at Trucking Truth is both rewarding and frustrating at the same time. Some days I ask myself, "Why do you do this?" Other days I see where someone has really laid hold of what we teach here and then I know why I'm still here. I'm in the fight!

I'm not so active recently because I have a bit less time (and energy) with my current job for writing longer pieces for Trucking Truth. (OK, I figure I need to blame something else beside my self for this situation!)

G-Town has called out the Emperor wearing no clothes. The internet is NOT the fount of all knowledge. Even Wikipedia has problems with people purposely adding false information. G has brought up an elephant in the room: anyone can become an authority simply by posting in a blog, building their own website or adding to a forum. Back in the day, we got our news and information through newspapers, news shows, magazines and books. These media channels all had "filters", more often called editors. Editors mostly prided themselves on making sure real information got passed along. No longer. people don't even need to call themselves experts, but things posted on the internet become authoritative simply because they are posted on the internet. ("If it's on the internet it must be true!")

We of course focus on the trucking industry. Anyone can and has signed on to TT to post "information". One of the great features of this forum, though, is we have many members who will directly point out the misinformation in a post, question the author, and work to set things straight. Sometimes this does involve popcorn. :)

If you haven't noticed, misinformation is easily released into the wild, and spreads faster that accurate information. Just do a Google search on "misinformation travels faster than truth and you'll see. And, as several people pointed out, angry posters who do not understand how the trucking business works do the posting, and those who are successful just keep on being successful and don't feel the need to tell the world.

Thanks G-Town!

Thank you for your article, G-Town. You are absolutely correct. Finding accurate, trusted information about any subject, especially trucking, is a challenge on the Internet. When I first started researching this industry, I got all kinds of misinformation. Thankfully, I somehow stumbled upon this site. I found experts who are not only willing to help, but are willing to tell it like it is.

Thanks for all that you, and the others, do to help newbies like myself.

Stay safe out there, everyone! Colin K.
