Reggi's Express across from Pilot (side street, no running across main road needed) exit 85. Pulled pork sandwich (with or without coleslaw) and seasoned fries $7.99. It's a walk up so you can bring your own drink. Tue-Sat 10am-9pm.

Sorry if this is against protocol but it's rare I find good (and cheap) BBQ this convenient. Enjoy!

From one foodie to another, I'm all for a good tip on someplace to eat!

I love finding little places like this. There are some great restaurants out there.

We came across a truck stop in MO on I-29 NB about 30 miles north of KC. It had a restaurant called Big Rigs inside. I had some of the best liver and onions ever and hubby had fried fish plus we got an order of fried cauliflower that was out of this world! Drinks and all it was less than $25. Neither one of us could finish our food either.

The best place I've found is the big cabin travel plaza on I-44 in Oklahoma. They have an awesome sandwich called the whole hog that is some of the best bbq I've ever had on the road.

I'd frankly like to see more posts like these. Maybe call this forum "General Trucking Questions" and add a miscellaneous forum for food, hobbies, joking around and whatever.

So, since I know you run I40 a lot, there is another Pilot on exit 143... It is the one with the loretta lynn restaraunt and buffalo. Anyhow, in front of the Pilot there, you can get some top notch BBQ food as well. Not sure the name of the place. Best French fries I've ever had. And they have siracha ketchup on the table. Simply amazing. But they are cash only and closed on sundays.

Unfortunately we have to closely monitor everything that gets put on the site and most of the people here are trying to learn about the industry so we try to avoid too much in the way of frivolous things. Right now Facebook is better for such things. But anytime we can build something that's helpful to drivers we will. A list of great restaurants with truck parking or within walking distance of truck parking wouldn't be a bad idea actually.

I would love to see something like that Brett! I can rattle off 5 or 6 places we have found that we try to visit whenever we can.

Most places are just the same old stuff, but every now and again you run across some really great stuff.

Another really great place is actually a truck wash with a tiny restaurant inside. It's called the Award Winning Truck Wash and Laughing Larry's Lunchroom on I90/94, exit 48 right across the street from the Love's in/near Toma, WI. What was special about that place was that the lady just threw some stuff together the way my wife does and it tasted amazing--real home cooking. She just cooked it up right behind the counter and sat there watching TV while I ate it. And the food was so inexpensive I literally asked them how they stay in business. Their goal is to make you feel at home and they do a very good job at it.
