PackRat said: "Had another semi monthly biopsy today,"

That statement is very telling. He's even thinking about his semi during his biopsy. Sign of a true trucker!

Great news about the DOT med card!!!!!dancing.gif

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Wow, there are a lot of people who couldn't manage to get a one year card and you've gotten one after a heart transplant. That's fantastic! My German Shepherd is really getting up there in age - he's 13. He said, "Tell Packrat I want to know how that heart transplant thing is working for him." He sees it as a fountain of youth.

Congrats man! That's really fantastic news. I have also enjoyed having you around a lot more during this incredibly tough time in your life. No one would've ever guessed what you were going through. Half of the truck drivers in this country spend most of their time griping and then cry themselves to sleep with self pity. To all outward appearances you've made a heart transplant seem like little more than a minor nuisance.

Most of us here were raised in an age where toughness and strong character were highly valued. Much respect to you for what you've gone through and the way you've handled it.

Getting back on the road on July 8th when my three day orientation starts. I have a driver (nephew) in my truck on a dedicated route now until the end of the summer, which helps us both out. After that ends, I’m going to park her and reevaluate at that time. Rates going down and insurance costs on the rise are not helping my bottom line.

The next page in my journey will be going back to being a solo company driver pulling dry van , 48 states.

Excited!

Dedicated Route:

A driver or carrier who transports cargo between regular, prescribed routes. Normally it means a driver will be dedicated to working for one particular customer like Walmart or Home Depot and they will only haul freight for that customer. You'll often hear drivers say something like, "I'm on the Walmart dedicated account."

Dry Van:

A trailer or truck that that requires no special attention, such as refrigeration, that hauls regular palletted, boxed, or floor-loaded freight. The most common type of trailer in trucking.
