Bruce, here's what my old Volvo looked like.

It wasn't all flashy and red. I kind of stand out a little more now. I'm hoping I can wear this one out in about four years. smile.gif

You deserve the new ride. Yes you give some storage space when there is a built in fridge. But it makes up for with having it to keep things cold. Good luck and I hope its up to the tasks you will put it through the paces.

Congratulations on your new ride. You do deserve it, plus your better A/C and the fridge. I pulled many 2020 Volvos from the factory in Dublin, VA. They are great rides!

Happy New Truck!

I really liked the Volvos in class. Teach called them "crack heads" because they "go go GO!" They don't back as slowly as the others and turn sharper with a shorter wheelbase. At least that's what we were taught. Besides a bit of storage only issue I know if is parts and service can be tougher OTR. Hopefully your company has that covered

Enjoy!

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

I'm not much of a yapper on here, but I gotta say... WOW, O/S. Gorgeous digs; treat her well, as we know you will. What kind of tranny? Interior pix, someday soon?

Thanks, for sharing. Anne.

What kind of tranny?

It's the Volvo "I-shift" auto shifter. Personally, I think it's one of the best automatic transmissions out here. I loved the one I had before, and supposedly they have improved them since that earlier model I had. The integration of the transmission with the cruise control and the Jake brake makes this thing handle steep downgrades like a dream. Once you understand the settings you can make it operate really well even when loaded very heavy.

The Volvo I-Shift was one of the first auto-shifters out there. Eatons were good also - and there were problems with the first gen ones - but Volvo has worked REALLY HARD at theirs, and the systems integration. You can only get an I-Shift with a VOLVO MOTOR. But the upside to that is not having to get different manufacturers computers to work with each other without fighting.

INTERIOR PICS PLEASE!

Did you get the one with the workstation interior (dinette table)? They brought back the 8-series, which has a slightly larger sleeper area than the 7 series now. I'd always considered the Volvo 780's (now called 770's) to be the "cats meow" for OTR comfort and amenities.
