Volvo has produced a video that shows what every owner operator dreams of:

If I Were A Rich Man

Owner Operator:

An owner-operator is a driver who either owns or leases the truck they are driving. A self-employed driver.

I won’t even consider them until they get their dealer network stocked up with repair parts. They are the worst brand in the business for repair support. In my opinion.

Yeah, but you wouldn't care if you were a rich man. You'd just go chill out at the local resort, or go bowling.

If you were a rich man, you would probably be driving one of those tricked-out motor busses with your Volvo 4 wheeler towed behind.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

I caught on right at the beginning when "Bob" stepped out of the cab wearing wingtips!

Lol so happens our "training" trucks (3) are Volvo's .......total P.O.S.'s I would have invested the $$ spent on them to have the couple of dead Pete's made road worthy again instead.....

I have two O/O friends. Every time I talk to them they reinforce why I will never own a truck. Both recently went through the dilemma of their trucks breaking down beyond repair and having to get into new trucks with higher payments. Not for me.

Funny (or not) that you mention this. Prime has a few hundred on order - but won't take delivery until the local stealership can assure parts supply and timely repair.

They are great units - no worse or better than any other brand, but the lack of larger market penetration (like freightliner has), and much smaller dealer network, as well as part supply chain has held them back for a decade or more.

The Prime purchase could put them on the map, and encourage other companies to make large purchases - or it could take them down it they screw it up.

Several of the big players gave them a shot and seem to have gone away from them. I’m guessing its the parts availabilty issue. Several fleets seemed to go to freightliner and kenworth from my observations.
