I'm starting to worry places will stop hiring in a few months, and I'll be locked out from even starting.
There's no way that's happening. But it's a great reason to go with Paid CDL Training Programs. If they sign you up for their program they intend on hiring you.
Trust me, driving jobs are and will be readily available. Your fears should never hold you back from pursuing this. But, I'll tell you it takes a lot of confidence to compete in this arena. You sound like you need to be bolstered up quite often. That should concern you more than the things you've mentioned.
CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I will post this in another thread, but wanted to comment on the concern you raised in this thread.
My recruiter informed me that Prime has postponed orientations for the next two weeks. I was scheduled for March 23 but now I will start orientation on April 6.

The way I was seeing it, a hiring freeze would be the single obstacle outside my control. Otherwise I figure as long as places are hiring, one of them will give me a chance, and beyond that nothing can stop me.
