It seems that the Pennsylvania DOT has closed all the rest stops on I81 between the New York state line and Scranton. Also the rest stop on I 80 east bound just after you merge from I380. I'm not sure what the logic is in that. Pennsylvania just created a parking shortage for allot of drivers in the future. I'm also assuming that Pennsylvania has also closed the service areas on the Turnpike as well.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

The PA welcome center at the state line and the rest stop just past Exit 219 on I81 South Bound were totally blocked off both the entry ramp and exit ramp. I80 east bound past the I380 interchange was the same.

That's just ridiculous. Shut down rest areas so truckers WHO ARE STILL WORKING have no where to rest.

PA Pike...no hand to hand contact at tolls, either...

I agree, Auggie. So much for the 'nation' coming together for truckers; All but PA, I reckon.

EZ Pass / Pre Pass are the only lanes open at entry. Cash or Credit Card traveler lanes are closed, and those travelers must grab a 'ticket' at the end of the 'Pike, and 'pay by mail.'

Crazy. Be safe, y'all~!

Let cool heads and patience prevail. Without a pre-ordained script, many decisions are being made without benefit of full comprehensive scope of effects. This very reasonable response is simply to point out undesirable consequences and request remediation. I'd withhold judgment and/or criticism until this dialogue, and no doubt many others, is exhausted.
