Kearsey,

This is what I know from following the forum (I have lots of free time now).

Jeremy tested positive for COVID 19. He is on mandated quarantine (they made him sign a legal document that he would not leave his house for 14 days). After being symptom free for 14 days he can leave his house.

But I too would like a Jeremy update.

Kearsey / Rainy ;

This just in from Jeremy replying to PJ in the 'Coronavirus Affect on Truckers' thread:

"Last i seen he has made it 75% work force reduction now except for “essentials” so i guess itll depend on what your hauling and how “essential” it is i have fellow trucking friends definately being affected here in ny. Update no new news from me not getting better or worse."

We all wish you well, quick~~!!!! , Jeremy~

BTW Jeremy,

I didn't post your status because I'm a stalker (although I am that), but just wanted to relay what information you had shared about your condition.

Also, I express the same wishes for a speedy recovery and return to work.

Jeremy: I believe you work for Ryder like I do. If so we have Short Term Disability coverage after the 1st week out. Call your dispatch office on Monday and they should be able to hook you up with HR to start the process.

I am currently off due to a heart attack. I opted for the extra coverage so I get 70% of my weekly average pay. If you didn't take the extra coverage I believe there is a dollar cap.

Get better.

I'm a big fan of moving when you're sick, not just lying around. If I just lie around I feel way worse. If you live in the country, go for long walks in the woods. Get fresh air, get the heart rate up and the blood flowing, get that air flowing through your lungs. The more you move the better you'll feel and the faster you'll get better.

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

Due to hauling steel much of it being government ordered steel we are deemed essential same for my wife as a propane delivery driver so were both anxious to get back to work this is very strange for us we arent really miss work for being sick people although admittedly id have take a couple few on this one first few days were tough due to bad fever but id have returned already if i could

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
