I am outside LA and there are a TON of people on the roads. So much for containment. No way could the police control this. they would have to roadblock like Germany did with checkpoints

Like I said, things are changing QUICK -

The US military will now be called in, and the US Army Corps of Engineers have said they plans to take over hotels, sports arenas, college dorms and other buildings in a bid to bolster the number of available hospital rooms.

If the Army is moving into New York (8,403 cases), California (1,247 cases) won't be far behind.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

I got a letter saying I am a "essential personal for emergency operations to sustain life, general public health and infrastructure" basically a hall pass so I can travel to and from work.

But they put the bottom P&D drivers on call and said a lot of our customers will be closed but we will still have some freight they just dont know how much.

P&D:

Pickup & Delivery

Local drivers that stay around their area, usually within 100 mile radius of a terminal, picking up and delivering loads.

LTL (Less Than Truckload) carriers for instance will have Linehaul drivers and P&D drivers. The P&D drivers will deliver loads locally from the terminal and pick up loads returning to the terminal. Linehaul drivers will then run truckloads from terminal to terminal.

Gotta love government eh? ( I know you don't) . When I worked in the gubermint call center, it was more of the same thing, folks had to be reminded to wash their hands and bathe...

That's what worries me - idiots.

The college kids who decided drinking and twerking on the beach was more important than not infecting others.

The father In Missouri who was supposed to be in quarantine and went to his daughter's school dance instead.

The designer who flew in from Spain with a fever to attend a wedding in Uruguay. Half of the cases in Uruguay can be traced to him.

The business owners who defy the quarantines and claim government telling them to close is unconstitutional.

There's no shortage of examples.

Since about 1980 it's been out of style to tell anyone, "no" to anything. Few, if any consequences for doing whatever you want whenever you want. It's created generations of entitled individuals who don't know and don't care about anything other than their happiness and gratification. If the world ends, oh well.

Da fug is wrong with people?

I spent the last week getting all my clients setup to work remotely. My big law office is doing real estate closings on a card table in the parking lot.

0033923001584834069.jpg

the show must go on.

I do 95% of my work remotely - so nothing really changed for me anyways. I sit here in my underwear, playing guitar, playing with my dog - and waiting for someone to screw something up - so I can berate them for what idiots they are (fringe benefit), fix it like the miracle worker I am - and get back to binge watching downloaded movies and triggering liberals on facebook.

And the next idiot that messages me telling me "I hear there will be martial law next week", I will make a personal visit to, and punch them in their mouth.

"martial law", will become a "self fulfilling prophecy". Keep spreading unsubstantiated rumors, keep freaking out people that are already freaked out by the media/social networking - and eventually, they will meltdown in the street - requiring government intervention.

Without getting into the politics of this - typically, the ONLY OFFICIAL that can "lockdown" businesses and citizens is THE STATE GOVERNOR - not the mayor of SF or Teaneck NJ. But I digress.

Friend wanted to buy a couple of hundred rounds of .308 from me (because you cannot find a round of ammo ANYWHERE on the interweb).

Sorry can't help you. I thought you were my FRIEND. I am, I can sell you a couple of rolls of toilet paper.

LOL.

SHTF - you have enough ammo to fight your way the 5 miles to my place.

This still has the potential to get A LOT WORSE - not from the virus itself - but FROM PEOPLE ACTING DUMB! Like the person that came back from Italy, and walked into work at the POST OFFICE with a cough).

THANKS TO OUR TRUCKERS - WE WILL NOT STARVE - AND STUFF WILL GET DELIVERED.

THANKS TO ALL THE FOLKS HERE AT TT - FOR BEING THE LIFELINE OF THIS NATION.

Maybe NOW, THEY'LL START APPRECIATING US! (not likely, people have short memories)

Rick

On the other side I crossed the GWB and drove the Cross Bronx Expressway about noon today and never dropped below 47mph. Near empty both directions.
