Over the last 6 years of being a member of this forum I've seen many regulars come and go. I know many people participate in other trucking sites or exchanged contact info and was curious if anyone's heard from them and what they're up to.

Ones I've been thinking about have been:

Chickie Monster

Pianoman

Tractor man

Ernie (salty dog)

Lil Syster (sunshine)

Errol

Grumpy old man

And many others. Anybody got any intel on what they're up to or if they're still out there driving?

I can attest to the first two: Chickie Monster is Ashley Loucks on Twitter, and she's all about Tweeting anymore; still driving w/her hubby and cat for Cal Ark.

Pianoman, Paul Wright, still with AFW driving; I see him on Facepalm on occasion.

I've been wondering about Ernie and Erroll myself . . .

Think Tractor Man got 'mad' at somebody and departed the forum.

Lil Syster .. / sunshine .. SOMEBODY saw her somewhere a couple years ago, and has pictures; she's now working in a trucking 'office' in some capacity, IIRC.

Grumpy shows up every now & again, just not too often; still think he's with H.O.W.

Good thread, Rob T. ~! All I've got.....

I miss Turtle, Susan, and Rainy.

I miss My Mind the most, though.

TruckerSpeir comes to mind. His diary was one of my favorites.

Was wondering about Susan. Errol most recently was at CFI. I haven't heard from him in a minute.

Tractor Man is working for Danny Herman and extremely happy. He is getting way more miles and much longer loads.

Errol went to teaching at a CDL school in Memphis...we met up in March. But just recently he wrote saying he was training Amazon drivers in NJ but I didn't go home.

I never knew he was at CFI.

Gladhands was running Jack Links from WI to California for a long time. Now he is running OTR for Shamrock Foods.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

For some reason Doug? Who was sent home from CRST came to mind today last I can remember he owes them for training and was looking at other options.

How about Junkyard Dog?

Last post, 3 weeks ago . . . wonder if he made it out ?!?!? (Re: JYD)

I had to shut it down in Minnesota on Wednesday during the blizzard. White out conditions and very high winds. Dispatcher didn't have a problem with it, And just told me to let him know when I felt it was safe to drive again. The only problem receiver was closed Christmas Eve christmas and the weekend so I have to wait till Sunday night to deliver. Brutal...

What happened to :

Bruce K. (did he get his LASIK?)

Raptor?

Amish Country?

Dave S. (Formerly known as Know it All) ?

All I've got.. no mucho!

Dispatcher:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
