Monday was the official start of construction season in Indiana and Illinois, wishing everyone a happy and safe construction season!
Look on the brightside only 7 months until winter!!
It never ended from LAST YEAR here in Ohio, especially on i71, up by Toledo!
Also started Monday: State Trooper crackdown. Per CDLlife:
"The “Six-State Trooper Project” runs from Monday, April 5 at 12:01 a.m. through Monday, April 12 at 11:59 p.m. During the high-visibility enforcement effort, troopers will be focusing on distracted driving violations.
Participating law enforcement agencies include the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Indiana State Police, Kentucky State Police, Michigan State Police, Pennsylvania State Police, and the West Virginia State Police."
Tom saw SEVEN (7!) OSHP vehicles within 3 hours Monday, alone. Apparently, once they pull someone over for what they deem as 'distracted driving,' they may also choose to do a full inspection, at that time.
Be safe, drivers!~

ps: Dang ya, on the Winter Season!
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

No lie! I was running I-294, 94, 55, and 355 for 13.75 hours Monday. Delays, delays, delays. Accidents around every corner, or so it seemed.
Looking forward to see how high a score of 'lane departures' I get from them putting the cones so far over you're riding the line. There's an override button for the buzzer, but then it thinks it needs to send constant critical event notifiers to safety.
Just a thought: that lane departure feature doesn't function in reverse, or under 10 mph.
Slow down in construction zones.

don't sweat it. As long as you're doing everything properly and safely safety will disregard this, especially if you have forward facing cameras. They understand its construction time in a majority of the country. Despite what other drivers would lead you to believe safety isn't out to get you. I turn my lane departure off in construction zones and have no issues.

Oh, I know they don't look at them that closely. They flat out told us they rarely, if ever, look at them because every little thing sets it off. My trainers truck went off for every on and off ramp we passed, luckily mines not quite as bad as his.
Still, even knowing that, being the new guy I half expected a call when I had 5 of them from turning it off this morning.
Operating While Intoxicated
Construction also usually means moron bikers that lane split at 100 miles an hour.
