Kerry has just posted a remark questioning Brett’s integrity. I’m not approving anything this guy writes at this point. Bridge burnt.

Earlier I had said:

So one might say, "Hey Brett, you're talking like racism isn't much of an issue these days and that most of this is fabricated, but you're just a privileged white guy. What could you possibly know about it?"

Right on cue, last night, Kerry sent me an email. Here is part of it:

You and your cronies have been exposed as middle-aged white men who refuse to acknowledge that racism is still very much a real problem. Your site loses all credibility with anyone who is not a white conservative. The only reason you wouldn't be bothered by this is if you are a racist who only cares what white people think

Unfortunately for Kerry, he launched this latest attack without knowing I'm part of a mixed family and that I have been part of a mixed family far longer than he has. I kept that ace up my sleeve and let him talk until he said enough to reveal who he really is.

The real reason I'm not bothered by this is that my mixed family hasn't been the target of any racism, and in all my years in trucking (28 years) I've never one time come across any hint of racism in truck stops, customers, terminals, bars, or anywhere else other than some trashy remarks on the CB radio.

Beyond that, I also spent many years hanging out with my sister's family when I would come into town on the weekends. I'd hang out with her kids and their friends. It was a mixed neighborhood. Black and white all hung out together and never in all those years was there a single utterance of a racist remark. Never a cross look. Not the first incident. Not once. Nothing.

Quite simply, none of us cared. There were blacks, whites, and Hispanics in our community, and that was just normal everyday life. We went to football games, pizzerias, played football and frisbee in the park, cooked out on the grill, and everything else. Black and white lived together and played together every single day. No one thought anything of it.

So that's the last time I'll defend my integrity against Kerry. Personally, I've had enough of the constant attacks and his obvious attempts to divide this community and promote his agenda of painting us all as racists. Unless you guys feel otherwise, I think it would be best if Kerry found a fresh start in a new community.

I let this go on for a long time so no one would accuse me of being too quick with the "ban trigger". He has relentlessly attacked me, this community, and our industry. He has consumed an enormous amount of our time and energy and attention, and I've given all I care to give to someone who feels the way he does about us. I'd rather help someone who genuinely appreciates our help and will benefit from it than to argue with someone who is genuinely trying to diminish who we are, what we do, and what we stand for.

Agreed.

As one of your so-called Cronies (too funny) ...at the very least Kerry embellished and harped on story to promote his agenda attempting to create conflict where 99% of the time it does not exist. I’m happy to have rational discussions about sensitive topics with rational, intelligent people. That’s how we learn.

I'll leave decisions about banning or not to the mods, who have experience with this.

Others, who are not white, have already spoken in this thread. I'm white but not a "conservative"... I like to think of myself as rather independent. I come from a very liberal environment (a public library in a big city!), but I seek to maintain my independence of thought.

This site has been an invaluable, credible source for me because of the good info and these 3 things:

1) I'm mostly here for the trucking.

2) I can appreciate a good viewpoint, no matter where it comes from. I enjoy looking for evidence and a good argument built upon it.

3) I realize that I can and do learn from everyone. That's one reason I'm looking forward to expanding my realm of experience by moving into trucking.

I pointed out a few weeks ago that IMHO, Kerry was here for another agenda besides trucking.

Another title for me, "Middle-Aged White Cronie". I'll add this to the others, such as "Deplorable" and "Racist White Conservative".

Thankfully, The Trucking Truth rolls on though...

No, but it did cross my mind. "Crotchety Old Man" is too similar to "Grumpy Old Man", and we are already blessed to have one on TT.

There are several other references I've been labeled with, but these aren't fit to post on here. I love it when people stereotype and underestimate me based on my appearance or upon hearing my Appalachian-American accent.

Sadly the whole episode detracts from the importance of training and getting through it. I know it shouldn't shock me, but if you are here in this community, you will see people implode on their path. I can't help thinking that usually it is their own fault. They usually finish it off by fighting with the folks here.

I remember reading all the diaries here before I started school and training and each time I read of a disastrous training relationship, I made notes of how to avoid that in my path.

I guess people could say that I lucked out and got a great trainer, and it's true to an extent, but it's also true that I made sure to keep my attitude and ego in check. I deescalated every possible conflict, I listened intently and did my job....be a pupil, a student. Plenty of times, my trainer was frustrated and exasperated with me. I just used those times to do better.

I don't know, I get that there are some trainers that just aren't that good, but it can't always be the trainers fault. Am I off in my thoughts on this?

Downfall of CDL Students

I forgot I saw this a few weeks ago. A truck driver interviews with Tucker Carlson. Only a few minutes long but that’s all he needs to get his point across. Completely trashed anything Kerry has to say. Below is the link and a snapshot from the interview. Look at the Kerry. Driver states specifically he is black and has NEVER experienced racism from other drivers. I guess that some how he is racist too? Maybe someone can fix the link I was having issues.
