ps: Sorry your company is doing this to you. I don't remember your field of work.

Anne, My "current" employer is Honeywell Aerospace for now. January 8th, that may change provided the Supreme Court doesn't do anything about the mandates. I am an electronics technician with 30 plus years and looking at a major career change.

Ah, gotcha, SeaDog. I probably missed that in your extensive (and great!) bio; sorry!

I can't blame you there, good sir. The trucking industry is pretty 'safe' from the vax; at least for the time being, if not forever, overall.

I'm not aware of ANY trucking companies mandating such, myself.

Best wishes; keep us in the LOOP!

~ Anne ~

ps: Out of the 3 choices in your bio, I'd go with Prime. :)

I am a little biased, but I agree with Anne! I drive for Prime and am happy overall. There have been some bumpy days, but I'm still laughing and smiling.

You, Kearsey, and Turtle & Rob D. (Chief Brody) are my selling points (people!) You too, CK! :) Even AS a L/O, haha!

Good to see ya stop in, m'lady! Happy Holidays, NaeNae!

Just a few current events on the mandate:

The 6th Circuit court repealed the stay on the mandate, but that only applies in the states that are a part of the 6th Circuit (Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and Tennessee).

OSHA has backed off on the mandate and will not enforce it until 9 February 2022. They were originally scheduled to start enforcement on 10 January 2022.

For the first time in decades the Supreme Court has agreed to hear arguments on a stay. A special hearing to hear oral arguments to make an emergency ruling on whether or not to grant a stay is scheduled for 7 January 2022. The court was originally not scheduled to resume normal operations until 10 January 2022.

I'm just seeing this, now!

Thanks, good sir.

I don't sleep much.. LoL.

Nice find.

The one mandate I'm not seeing much talk about is Canada's that goes into effect January 15 requiring all truck drivers that cross the border into that country to be vaccinated. Doesn't look like that mandate will be going away. It majorly effects my terminal since all of us are in and out of Canada constantly. The company hasn't forced us to get the vaccine, but has said that if the only work they have is Canada work, and you're not vaccinated, then you're not working that day.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

The one mandate I'm not seeing much talk about is Canada's that goes into effect January 15 requiring all truck drivers that cross the border into that country to be vaccinated.

There are two very good reasons for that.

One, less than 5% of US CDL holders have a valid passport and drive into Canada. Most drivers are more focused on the mandates that will affect them.

Two, the January 15th mandate is Canadian. While the US mandates will likely be overturned because they're unconstitutional the US Constitution doesn't apply in Canada. They're a sovereign state and Her Majesty (Fun fact: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is Queen of Canada and Head of State, NOT Justin Trudeau) can pretty much do whatever she wants with mandates.

While the US mandate requiring drivers entering the US to be vaccinated by 22 January 2022 is likely to be overturned it doesn't really matter for you. If you can't get into Canada without a shot it does you no good to be able to re-enter the US without one.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

If I'm not mistaken I don't have to get the jab unless I chose to. I am the only employee of this company (1099). Is that how this works?

The federal mandate only applies to companies with at least 100 employees. According to the Labor Department the only truck drivers the mandate would apply to are:

"truck drivers who work in teams (i.e., two people in a truck cab), or those who interact with people in buildings at their destinations or starting points,”

There may also be state or local mandates. A different federal mandate may apply if you work for the federal government, say delivering freight to military reservation.

Just thinking today, funny, now that this "Omicron" escaped South Africa so fast (a few days??? REALLY??) once they shut down travel out of the region,,,right away, suddenly it's spread globally somewhat... BUT , where did the "Delta" variation go? it mysteriously evaporated?? hahaha.....

I call BS on this whole money grab. So NOW they are pushing boosters, and masks AGAIN, just like the "Global Warming" BS YEAH big pharma stands to make another $10+ Billion profit on top of the approx. $40 Billion already in their coffers hmmmm.....FJB et al...... And hearing all these virus's have patents?? WTF proof man made?? Who patents a disease??

Months ago, while still team driving, we passed thru Arizona (many times) overhead boards were saying "Get the vax and join the 2.4 million Arizonians who have been vaxxed"......1 week later, going thru AZ. the overheads, were saying "6 million Arizonians were vaxxed" Well, Sunday night, while I was driving thru AZ. those same electronic boards say "4.3 million" vaxxed?? They can't even keep accurate counts hahahaha

Not only do I not hear of delta anymore, I distinctly remember a different varient going around before delta, it was a big craze for literally like a week then it also disappeared. Quite odd if you do critical thinking

Well, hopefully they will bring back the murder hornets. They never really got off the ground with that one.
