Just about 3 years solo now, and am looking to get into something dedicated. Unfortunately we dont really have those where I'm at now. I love Millis but I never know what's next and I realize some people like that about this job but I've never been able to wrap my head around it. I'm based out of chicago so a terminal nearby would be nice, because I'm single and I cant really park my personal car at a gary indiana truckstop for weeks at a time. Any suggestions? I'm very picky, like I said I love millis and its gotta be the right situation. More pay which means +.61 cents roughly same hometime, 3 weeks out 4 days off. Any ideas?

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

I know Schneider and Roehl have terminals practically beside each other there in Gary. I was there a lot when I was at Roehl.

Schneider has a Gary Operating Center and plenty of parking there for Drivers. I think Roehl also has one near Schneider’s.

I don’t know what dedicated routes they have in your area. You could check schneiderjobs.com

Dedicated Route:

A driver or carrier who transports cargo between regular, prescribed routes. Normally it means a driver will be dedicated to working for one particular customer like Walmart or Home Depot and they will only haul freight for that customer. You'll often hear drivers say something like, "I'm on the Walmart dedicated account."

When ever I get passed by a Millis truck I 65 I wonder if it you.

To answer your question from the other thread I did "Midwest regional" with West Side it covered from Iowa to the east side of Ohio. You got 34 hours off duty on the weekends, while I only did it for a month before joining OD it seemed pretty consistent customer wise.

Regional:

Regional Route

Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

Thanks packrat and steve Ive looked at both Schneider and rhoel and none of their stuff really interested me too much. They're terminals are perfect for me though. I was looking at crete because I'm familiar with some of their dedicated stuff they have on their website.

I think the same bob. I'm actually on 65 now at Hebron at the 240 exit about to roll out in this storm hoping I can get up to Milwaukee before the 8 inches of snow fall. I'm in truck 1806 if you see a millis truck btw.

Originally we were supposed to get hit with this storm but thankfully it tracked farther south. Only area we run thats really affected is Kansas City but im off until tomorrow and have enough seniority I should be able to stay away from there smile.gif
