So, my boss, Miss Peaches, had to have eyelid surgery. We had it done in Montana with her regular vet on 7/28. She had been doing great at leaving the stitches alone, or so I thought. Little turkey scratches her face so hard today while I was doing my pre trip, that she opened up one of the wounds, bad.

Quick change of plans. I'm running out towards Seattle, so met my dad at a truck stop on i-90, and she is staying with them until after she sees her vet again, and gets more healing.

Now, I haven't been alone alone in my truck since 9/2021. I'm having a hard time falling asleep tonight!

Just for giggles, left to right, Peaches, Poka, and Zazu.

Peaches belongs to me, Poka is my parents dog, and Zazu is my son's dog.

How did she get up on the dash?

My dad built a platform that goes around the passenger seat, that her fuzzy bathmats, memory foam dog bed, scritchy dog bed, and snuffle blanket sit on. It's just a hair taller than normal steps for her to get onto the dash.

How do you sleep without the snoring?

Clearly not very well! 🤦‍♀️😭

Dog gone it, sorry about Peaches. I know only too well how attached one can get to a pet. Can you get a loner dog in the meantime? Maybe Poka or Zazu? One of them might enjoy a ride-a-long.

That must be difficult. I'm hoping she's able to return to duty soon.

I would love to take the other two, but mom's memory issues make her paranoid about losing her dog Poka (she seems to ground mom in the here and now.) And Zazu, well, there was an incident riding in my pickup when he was a puppy, where he slid forward into the dash, and he hasn't been a good rider since. It wouldn't be fair to take him knowing he wouldn't relax and snooze like Peaches. 😔 So, dog free for me for a bit. It hurts more than I thought.

Dang, NaeNae!

That IS a bummer. Did you see the cutie pie (well I think it's a he, though..) I posted in the funny pictures thread? I mean, maybe you could foster a 'sub' from a local shelter (?!?!?) Heck, if you were here in Ohio, I'm sure an Amish family would let you borrow a pupper. Chances are, it'd be a herding type breed, Blue Tick Heeler, or something... though. Just a thought!

They are the most amazing breed of dog (next to pitties, though!) aren't they???

Sure hope it works out soon and well for ya, NaeNae. Pupper prayers for Peaches...for sure.
