Ryan good grief buffalo is gonna be fine. This isn’t the first time they’ve gotten snow like this and won’t be the last. It would be like saying prayers with Chicago when we get minus 30 below cold in February. We get that every year lol.

I saw videos of the snow trapping people in their homes and burying stranded cars on The Weather Channel app. I really hope that the elderly who maybe don't have family in the area have neighbors, church members, or friends to check on them. It's kind of one of those things where I think about people often not being as neighborly now as in times past. At least it's noticeably changed from what I remember as a kid. God be with those who are at the mercy of help from others.

Someone else from the Adirondacks? Grew up in Saranac myself 👍🏻

Nice! I grew up outside of Buffalo, but about 4 1/2 years ago I bought a home a few miles south of Keeseville, above Augur Lake.

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

Why are you bothered by me expressing concern and compassion for people who may not be able to take care of themselves in having to dig out of snow like that? I didn't say anything about the city. My heart goes out to people who are alone and may need the help of others. I hope that help is there.

If this bothers you, then it says about you, not me.

You’re expressing concern and compassion for a city in the Midwest that’s about to get hit by a snow storm. Who gets hit by snow storms every year. Are you going to make a post now every time snow hits anywhere this winter sending your prayers? A little dramatic I’d say but okay.

I saw a video about it on The Weather Channel app. On the video they talked about some people being buried in their houses because of the amount of snow. Obviously I won't be seeing a video for every single significant weather event, but when I see something that strikes me as worthy of mentioning, I will.

I appreciate being informed that it's actually normal for this area. I hadn't really paid attention to this before. I obviously live in an area that gets snow and quite a bit of it at times. There are some elderly people in my neighborhood who don't really have family nearby. In this neighborhood, we kind of take it upon ourselves to check on those elderly people (4 of them in total, two being a couple) when there are things lake effect snow piling up, power outages, etc.

I think we could all look to be a bit more compassionate toward our fellow man, even when 8 feet of snow (that's what was reported in the video) is seen as normal.

Virtue signaling on a trucking forum does not equal compassion.

Ryan we’ve deleted about 15-20% of your posts either because of chronic bad advice or disrespectful, rude replies after one of us fact checked you. You are the only active member we constantly moderate and intervene on.

Where is your compassion when offering bad advice with nothing behind it but your feckless opinions? Bad advice that can be taken at 100% face value by an unsuspecting newbie not knowing any better.

Get over yourself… if you want the collective perspective on your character and integrity to change for the better, then please cut all the BS and reduce the drama. Advice suggested to you in the past, including by Brett.

I had 0 degrees, snow on the two lane roads for 90 miles, and 40+ mph gusts between Casper and Rawlins, WY this morning. Prayers were not required because I planned for worse ahead of time. Maybe the Buffallo residents did, too? I know my 106 year old great aunt that lived up there (by herself) always did.

I live in a suburb of Buffalo. This is nothing new for us. We stock up on food, beer or whatever and ride it out.

We’re known as the city of good neighbors because we do check on and help neighbors.

A local cat rescue posted on Facebook that they had a wall of ice at the street their plow guy couldn’t get through so they couldn’t get in to feed 100 animals. Within hours, the county bright front end loaders to knock down the ice, volunteers shoveled a path to get them in until their plow guy could get there.

The Bills players were shoveled out by neighbors.

Facebook posts from people offering rides to shop, doctors, etc are common.

As far as the snow, I was out east for the whole thing. Had to spend a day at Waterloo because our worthless governor kept the ban on way longer than needed. But I still made my appointment on time Monday am.

That's the kind of stuff I was hoping would be commonplace. Glad to read that it is.
