Please see video link below. The worst part is I discovered it when it ended up on the wall in the simulator room 🫣😅

I don't indulge in Chinese data mining websites.

Better luck tomorrow. Nobody starts off as an experienced driver, forward or reverse.

Sorry guys, didn't realize Tik Tok was so hard to get to without the app and I understand your concerns PackRat.

I was really getting into the pretrip before class started with another student with the checking coupling and the drives and rubbed the trailer apron and got my back covered in fifth wheel grease. Didn't realize it, went into the simulator room and accidentally smudged the wall and the safety manager saw it. It was lighthearted and I deserve the title "Grease Man" as the instructor has dubbed me. Overall it was a great day today. Backed it over 100 feet with the help of the instructor and got some favorable compliments. Got the jitters out and a little confidence. Look forward to doing a little better tomorrow and driving the truck out on the road for the 1st time in a rural community just south of the terminal. Will update training diary later this week.

Be safe all!

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

And We're Learning!

Stay away from that grease at all costs! It gets onto everything (as you discovered), is difficult to wash off, and leaves permanent stains on clothing.

DULY NOTED Sir 😂😂my homework assignment tonight was buying a bottle of Dawn and Scotch-Brite pads and spending about an hour and a half in my bathtub getting it off so it at least won’t transmit to any other fabric services the rest of the week. My high visibility safety vest, and Carhart jacket have officially been christened. I didn’t wanna use the company hotel dishwasher and leave my Mark twice today!

ok

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

You can get some grease on your elbows, though

We all need elbow grease from time to time.

Wd 40 takes it off, then use orange hand cleaner. I keep a squeeze bottle of gojo orange in with my tools. But yeah, if you even look at the grease you'll somehow have it all over.

You should autograph the wall… abstract grease art.

Good "handles" are usually given to us rather than self imposed. Many of us got our handles while in training for this career. I still remember "Splitter." That was such a great handle given to a new driver who kept forgetting to flip his Splitter switch when necessary.

I just realized... most of our current new drivers don't even know what a splitter is.confused.gif

Oh well, "the times, they are a changing."
