Today marks two full years of driving for me, 8 months with Schneider and 16 months with JS Helwig. It took me 4.5 years to do it because I was sidelined after I started by several issues.

So far, no accidents on the road. Several rookie parking lot blunders, but relatively minor incidents. Almost 235,000 miles driven, total, and tomorrow I will turn over my truck to 100,000 miles. I got it with 773 miles on it and it has been a great truck.

So much credit goes to all the knowledge I have gained here on this forum. Thank you to all who have helped teach this old dog new tricks.

Safe travels to everyone!

I'll be honest I didn't think you would make it this far. You have proven me wrong. 🫡

Awesome BK, congratulations!!! Have you found where you want to be, reefer OTR with Helwig, or are there other facets of the industry you'd like to pursue?

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

Thanks Sandman.

I’m really satisfied with what I’m doing now. I like Helwig and I like reefer. And I especially like my truck, so I’m not planning any changes.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
