Exactly PJ Oil changes are cheap insurance for any vehicle! I've always told customers in the auto field too, don't pay attention to owners manual LOF schedules.......... Afterall, the auto makers would go broke if everyone took care of their cars, and kept em for 5-10-15years! lol

Had a Ford customer, use "Slick 50" oil additive, he thought it meant 50k oil change intervals hahaha He'd brought the car in to us because his oil level would be low, then over full. He said he'd add oil when low, then it would be higher later??

Well, I found the intake valley of his engine (5.0 engine) was clogged up almost 2 inches deep with sludge build up,mostly blocking off the drain hole at the rear of the block. I got it all cleaned out, fill it, drive, drain, refill a couple times. I told him that stuff don't mean go 50k between changes lol

Same with the Lucas gas treatment stuff. It DOES work good, but not by directions (treats 20 gallons) no it needs to go into an almost empty tank, driven 20-50 miles, then fill-er up. If you follow directions, you're gunna be buying quite a few bottles to get the fuel system all cleaned out

I forgot to screw on the oil cap once and I never made the mistake again.

Same thing, when I got to my destination there was oil everywhere. When I opened the hood, the oil cap was still resting on the washer fluid reservoir. I put it back on and checked the oil level after the truck sat for a bit. No harm, no foul.

I do not do OTR , though should not matter with these rules apply to all truckers ! In my field if its shiny = inspect it as to why its shiny, more times its loose/play in it.

any unexplained splatter on the truck/trailer you should explore & find out what is the reason for those spots ! Are they hydraulic leak or load leak ?

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

This is weird coming so soon after Rob T had a fluid leak.

Does anyone know what this fluid is on the exterior of my truck?

Good guess but it came from the engine compartment.

Nobody correctly identified the unidentified substance on my truck. So no prize money will be awarded.

Here is an engine compartment photo showing that the substance came from the Picante reservoir that lost it’s cap.
