Did you lose it from not renewing medical or is it suspension related? Why do the troopers have it out to fail you? In my experience they want us to succeed but we need to demonstrate we know what we're doing. If you need your CDL your best bet is to Apply For Paid CDL Training by following that link. Your past experience unfortunately means nothing due to how long ago it was. Chances are theyll push you through at a faster pace if you demonstrate you remember what you're doing.

Operating While Intoxicated
It was due to a suspension for a ticket in Arizona I didn't know they kept. Took a few years to get it paid off. I've actually been approved to go to work for a couple companies regardless of how long it has been so I have driven. Mostly because, like riding a bike, I never forgot how to. I drove to the troopers testing areas, but they just won't pass me on the inspection part. I'm mostly trying to find a way around not having to deal with the state police for my tests.
What part of your inspection trips you up?
I tried finding a list of 3rd party testers for your state but everything just kept pulling up schools. Have you tried contacting schools and asking if you could use their tester for a small fee?

Ooops, That sounded bad. You may want to word it a little different so it doesnt come across as trying to bribe them to pass.

If you're talking about passing the CDL pretrip just man-up and concentrate. Most state DMVs are death on that and won't take just pointing to "this and that" about what you might do or may ignore. They want to hear you from front to back as to what you're looking and and what you would inspect.

The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.
I retested at state troopers in Sprindale to get my automatic only restriction removed after I tested at Prime. They want you to grab and pull things not point. Example- grab belt and pull to demonstrate tension and freeplay. Slack adjuster pull that too. If you say it is or isn't supposed to do something prove it. Hope this helps I was a class B holder in Arkansas on and off for 10 years. Taken test 3 times because I would let CDL slip then get bored and get it back.

Really just depends on the trooper, the trooper who did my test back in 2018 was fine with me pointing to each part naming it, and explaining the type of defects I would be looking for. I did my state exam in Hotsprings, AR.

I'm not trying to sound unsympathetic here, because I am truly sorry to hear you are having issues passing the pre trip. Regardless of who is testing you, you must do it correctly.
Are you practicing it the same way every time? Keeping everything in the same order so you dont miss anything?
Is it a specific part of the pre trip they are failing you for? Brake test? There is no room for error on the brake test.
Try these links.
A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.
Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.

Curious if you know about a couple things. Been driving since 2002, but lost my CDL in 2014. Finally got my license back. Going back for my CDL again. What I need to know are these things. Do you know who, besides the troopers, in Arkansas, that does the driving, skills, and inspection tests? Governor Huckabee allowed for third parties to do it, but I can't find a list for them. Been having issues with the troopers stations failing me on my inspection test, even when I do what they say to do. And secondly, do you know of any good, reputable and inexpensive ways or schools to just do refresher courses?

EPU:
Electric Auxiliary Power Units
Electric APUs have started gaining acceptance. These electric APUs use battery packs instead of the diesel engine on traditional APUs as a source of power. The APU's battery pack is charged when the truck is in motion. When the truck is idle, the stored energy in the battery pack is then used to power an air conditioner, heater, and other devices
